Former Senator
Russ Feingold, one
of the most respected
members of
Congress, will speak
about his new book
“While America
Sleeps” at 2 p.m. on
Sunday, April 22 at
the Northshire
Bookstore.
Revered on the left
and respected on the
right, Russ Feingold
represented the state
of Wisconsin from
1993 to 2011. During
his tenure, he was
one of only 23 sena-
tors to vote against
the Iraq War, and
was the only senator
to vote against the
Patriot Act. Feingold
was also the co-
author of the well-
known McCain-
Feingold campaign reform bill
which banned party soft money.
In his new book, he explains
where America went wrong
after 9/11, and explores how the
government and citizens alike
can reverse our missteps
through proposed solutions to
the international problems that
threaten America.
Since leaving the Senate,
Russ Feingold has been a visit-
ing professor at Marquette
University Law School and is
currently a distinguished visi-
tor at Stanford University. In
February 2011, he founded
Progressives United, an organi-
zation devoted to challenging
the dominance of corporate
money over our American
democracy.
A Rhodes Scholar, Feingold
is an honors graduate of both
Harvard Law School and Oxford
University. He is the recipient
of the 1999 John F. Kennedy
Profile in Courage Award, and
the 2011 Franklin D. Roosevelt
Four Freedoms Medal.

Twenty Burr and Burton

Shown in the photo is one of the
four oak trees that will be used as
part of the interior deisng of the
building. Two of the oaks were har-
