Viggo Ree designed a series of bird stamps back in the 1980s. This year, we will be introducing a new series of stamps depicting Norwegian birds. The first two, showing the Eurasian blue tit and the European crested tit, were issued on 2 January. October sees the next issue of four stamps which will cover the first weight levels for A and B letters within Norway.

We have come to the end of our Wildlife series of stamps. A Eurasian eagle-owl has the honour of concluding this series, which has been running since 2006. As usual, Inger Sandved Anfinsen designed this stamp.

One of the major anniversaries this years is the 150th

anniversary of the Norwegian Red Cross. This organisation has been very important to huge numbers of people – not just in Norway, but elsewhere as well. These four stamps will be issued in rolls and have been designed by Gina Rose.

2015 sees a number of exciting new stamp issues. Anders B. Wilse, Agnar Mykle and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra are all celebrating, alongside a number of other birthdays and anniversaries of organisations. This year’s theme for Europa stamps is old toys, images that are sure to bring back lots of good memories for many of our readers. Find out more in the summary on page 3.

In total 29 stamps will be issued in 2015.

The town of Halden will be celebrating its 350th anniversary in 2015. Arild Yttri has engraved a beautiful stamp to celebrate. Photographer Anders Beer Wilse left around 160 000 photos on his death. Four of his images will be turned into stamps to celebrate his 150th birthday. At the same time, a major photo exhibition will be opening at the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History in Oslo.

The Supreme Court celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2015, and Sverre Morken has engraved the stamp showing the Supreme Court building. That said, this year’s first anniversary to be depicted on stamps is that of the Norwegian Red Cross, celebrating 150 years. These four stamps will be issued on 20 February.
