Line weights

Change the line weight using the layer properties manager (LA), to change all of the lines used in a layer rather than one by one.

Line weight guidance

Walls: 0.5, 0.6, 0.7

Fine details: Varying but keep below wall line weight.

Dimensions:

Dimensions should be added in paper space.

Be sure that your text is set up as annotative.

Lock the display in your viewport to make it easier to add dimensions without changing the layout of the view in the viewport.

Create a new layer for your dimensions called ‘_dims’.

Using continuous dimensions you can measure one base dimension and continue the rest along the length of your drawing in a running line.

Photoshop:

To open an AutoCAD drawing in Photoshop, first save it as a PDF file and then open the PDF.

Add 2 new layers to the image. One for the glass of the window and one for the mortar.

In the glass layer, draw a rectangle and choose a colour. Change the ‘Fill’ to a gradient and change the gradient style to radial.

Move this layer to the bottom of the list to put it behind the other layers.

Go to the original layer and zoom in (Ctrl+Alt) then use the wand tool to select the spaces between the brick. Once selected move back into the mortar layer.

Use the gradient tool to fill in the selected space, then feel free to change gradient properties.

Then go into ‘FX’ and choose drop shadow to add depth.
