SILENT SCREAM

The term dwarf has been dropped from t h e nomenclature and t h e term d y s p l a s i a , meaning disordered growth, has been s u b s t i t u t e d .

From anc ien t Egypt t o t h e Royal Courts these physical un fo r tuna te s have been f e t e d , r i d i c u l e d , persecuted and adu la t ed .

Looked upon a s demons, e l v e s , gobl ins and ogres, t hese people have t h e f r a i l t i e s , emotions, ambitions and d e s i r e s equal t o any one of normal s i z e .

The purpose o f t h i s documentary i s not t o d w e l l on t h e medical a s p e c t , a l though t h i s w i l l be covered through d i scuss ions w i t h Prof . David Silence of t h e Sydney Univers i ty and o the r a u t h o r i t i e s on t h e sub jec t . The a i m i s t o show t h e human s i d e through recreated events such a s t h e smal l people who manage a n ight club i n the P h i l i p p i n e s , another who claims t o b e a commando wi th t h e Ph i l ipp ines armed forces and para- chutes f r o m a i r c r a f t , o the r s who l i v e i n a v i l l a g e atmosphere i n P o r t McQuarrie and run a successful t o u r i s t bus iness ,

Colombani, a c t o r , w r i t e r , e n t e r t a i n e r and co-producer of t h e documentary w i l l he lp t h e appeal of the f in i shed product. The f i lm w i l l t r a c e a s e c t i o n of h i s l i f e , including f l a s h e s of h i s motion p i c t u r e and t e l e v i s i o n successes , a s he seeks h i s r o o t s and a t t e m p t s t o j u s t i f y h i s ex is tence along wi th o t h e r s s i m i l a r l y a f f l i c t e d .

The f i l m over a l l w i l l be humourous and en ter ta in ing with j u s t a touch of pa thos .

While researching and t e s t f i lming (on 4 inch video) it was proved t h a t t h e ' l i t t l e p e o p l e ' were prepared t o t a l k openly and i n more d e t a i l t o one of t h e i r own s i z e -- Colombani.

Colombani has a l o t of z e s t and charisma and t h i s alone w i l l make t h e content of t h e documentary an a t t r a c t i v e and v i a b l e p ropos i t i on .

Born i n Melbourne A u s t r a l i a of I ta l ian descent , Marco was a she l t e red c h i l d of ' g u i l t y ' p a r e n t s , A t 13 years o f age and a l ready having f e l t t he c r u e l t y of f e l l o w ch i ldren Marco began t o venture : . in l i f e . H e formed h i s own pop band and became a s inger and drummer i n t h e 'Mandrakes'.

After t en years w i t h t h e pop world, booking and forming bands, Colombani extended h i s t a l e n t s t o ac t ing and p e r - formed i n an episode o f 'Homicide' w r i t t e n e s p e c i a l l y f o r him by Spanish w r i t e r Lois Bayonnas. The ' P i r a t e Movie' i n which he s t a r r e d was r e l eased by 20th. Century-Fox, then followed a s t i n t i n the Eea tu re ' B r o t h e r s ' shot i n Yew Zealand and t h e Phi l ipp ines , he worked i n a production capac i ty in a v a r i e t y of p o s i t i o n s on t h i s one and began t o enjoy being 'behind the s c e n e ' .

Since then , Colombani has taken various courses, spoken ex tens ive ly t o experienced producers and spent hours studying law and accountancy in preparat ion f o r h i s venture t o d i s p e l the rumours, sweep away the enigma and prove t o t h e wor ld a t l a r g e t h a t short people, gnomes, goblins, dwarfs, c a l l them what you w i l l , are 'human', they do have emotions, ambitions and c a p a b i l i t i e s .

Pre-production began i n 1 9 7 7 , t h e f i l m was f i n a l l y made i n 1 9 8 2 .

Also wrote and produced in collaboration with Jean- Charles Tacchella and Gaumont International, Paris, a love story, 'Prende La Plume' to be made in Europe later this year.

As a film maker in the documentary vein, Ward is negotiating with Alen Lansberg Productions, California, to re-create a recent incident on Mount Cook, New Zeal- and, (Two mountaineers trapped in a snow cave for 14 day S )

He is also in midfilming as co-producer and co-director of a documentary for international release on Womens Body Building starring Miss Olympia and Miss World, 82, Rachel McLish. This programme should be completed with- in six weeks.

A sensational thriller, co-mi t ten and to be co-produced by Ward should be before the camera by mid 84.
