NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION MCI/VERIZON UNDERGROUND FIBER REPLACEMENT PROJECT CROW CANYON ROAD FROM TOWN OF DANVILLE CITY LIMIT TO EL CAPITAN DRIVE Planned construction period: October 29, 2018 to February 28, 2019 Staff issued an Encroachment Permit to MCI/Verizon’s contractor, Golden State Utility Company (GSUC), for the installation of approximately 33,000 feet of underground fiber within the public right-of-way on the north side of Crow Canyon Road. This project will provide fiber services to new and existing customers as well as upgrade services for digital telephone and high-speed data. GSUC is planning to start this project the week of October 29 th . The scope of the project consists of potholing existing utilities, digging bore pits, directional drilling, and placing conduits for fiber installation. The work will start at the Town of Danville City limit just north of Reedland Circle and will continue west and end on the northwest corner of Crow Canyon Road and El Capitan Drive, as shown on the attached map. There will be a crew of approximately 20 people working on different aspects of the project. GSUC is anticipating completion of work by February 2019, weather permitting. The City will ensure that GSUC restores the roadway in the area of the excavations to the most current City Standard. A Traffic Control Plan for this project was submitted and approved by staff as a requirement prior to the issuance of the Encroachment Permit and the start of any work. City staff will be working closely with GSUC to minimize traffic disruption, especially during peak morning and afternoon commute times, near schools, and on all main arterial roadways. Only single-lane closures will be required for the duration of the project. GSUC will provide the necessary notices to alert the public, residents, schools, and nearby businesses of this upcoming work.
