WOOLWORTHS EARN AND LEARN PROMOTION

In the past the school has received thousands of dollars’ worth of resources from the Woolworths Earn and Learn promotion. These resources included Mathematics , Art and Craft , Science, books for the library and items for educational play. These items have been greatly appreciated by the school.

The Woolworths Earn and Learn Promotion is currently underway. For each $10 you spend at Woolworths you receive a sticker – the more you spend the more stickers you will receive. If they are not offered to you at the checkout, please ask for the stickers. Please send your stickers into the school office, where they will be stuck onto provided sheets. The promotion runs until Tuesday 8 September, 2015. The more stickers we receive, the more items we will be able to obtain from the promotion. If you shop at Woolworths Westfield Kotara and Woolworths Market Town you can also place your stickers into the boxes labelled with our school name. KINDER ORIENTATION Kinder Orientation will be held on Wednesday 9 September, 2015. All enrolment forms together with a copy of their Birth Certificate and Immunisation Certificate need to be provided at the time of enrolment. Invitations have now been sent to all the children who have indicated they will be enrolling here next year. Should you know of anyone who has a child to enrol in Kinder next year, please ask them to contact the school office as soon as possible so they can receive an invitation. HAVE YOU RECEIVED?

An envelope containing a form/forms listing personal information for your child/children, forwarded home early in Term 1. Please return to school office as soon as possible.

OUTSTANDING PAYMENTS Camps for Yrs 3-6: Years 3 and 4 are going to Camp Toukley from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 November. Years 5 and 6 are going to Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Camp from Monday 23 to Friday 27 November. We have previously asked for a camp deposit to be paid by the end of Term 2. The camp deposit is to confirm that your child will be attending camp and also takes some of the pressure off making the final payment in Term 4 with Christmas looming. We are at the stage where we have to advise the camps of numbers attending. Until we have definite numbers, we are unable to work out final costs. If you haven’t paid the camp deposit for your child, it would be appreciated if payment could be made no later than this Friday. Also, if your child will not be going to camp, would you please advise the school office?

Premier’s Reading Challenge

The Challenge closes at the end of August so time is running out. Please hand in completed reading logs as soon as possible.

Mrs L Teacher Librarian Train-on Debating

Our train-on debate team travelled to Tighes Hill Public School to compete in round 4 of the completion. Will (1st speaker), Sam (2nd speaker), Lewis 3rd speaker), Max (team advisor) and Milly (year 6 mentor) put in a fantastic effort and won the debate. The topic was that “school canteens should only be open one day a week”, with our team being the affirmative. Congratulations to our team.

Ms G - Train on debate coordinator.

SCHOOL CONCERT 2015

Date: Wednesday, 2 September

Venue: Kotara High School Multi-purpose Centre

Lexington Parade, Adamstown Heights

Time: Evening performance: 6.30 pm start (Students to be there by 6.00 pm)

Cost: Evening performance: $10.00 each for parents, high school students and older No advanced tickets - pay at the door. Notes:

Children: We expect all of you to show your best Merewether Heights behaviour.

Children should be dressed as per their teacher’s instructions.

During the evening performance classes not on stage will be waiting in a holding area in another part of Kotara High School and will be supervised by classroom teachers.

We ask that children, who are not school students (ie: younger siblings) sit with their family, NOT join students in the holding room during the evening performance.

It is important for the success of our concert that all pupils attend, unless incapacitated.

All students are required to stay for the entire concert to participate in the finale.

We are hoping to limit the concert to no longer than two hours this year so that the evening is not too long and tiring.

There will be a canteen operating at interval during the evening performance.

THE P&C ARE COOKING A BBQ PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE EVENING CONCERT.

The Barbecue will be served from 5.30 - 6.15 pm.

All students are to be seated in the holding room by 6.15 pm.

No parents are to be in the holding room, unless requested by class teacher.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS TO BE NO FOOD OR DRINK CONSUMED IN THE HALL. THIS RELATES TO THE BARBECUE AS WELL AS THE FOOD SOLD AT INTERMISSION.
