Practice Prior Skills• Underline the noun clause

in the following sentence:– Mrs. Caple knows that her

students are capable.

Learning Goals• To practice recognizing

independent clauses as well as various dependent clauses, such as adjective, adverb and noun clauses. This will be due at the beginning of class tomorrow. Remember to study another subject if you finish early.

Place the dependent clause in parentheses and label the type of clause – Adj., Adv. Or noun. Then diagram each sentence.

Learning Goals• To review all parts of a

sentence and diagramming noun clauses by having a review competition.

• Noun Clause Diagramming quiz tomorrow.

Review Competition

• Break into cooperative learning groups. ‘• Group one will choose a sentence to challenge

another group. If the challenged group gets it right, then challenged group gets a point and then they choose a group to be challenged. If they get it wrong the Group diagrams it, if they get it right they get the point. If they get it wrong then it is Group 2’s turn to challenge.
