Nourishing Communities Food Seminar
27th April: 10 – 4pm
Letham Village Hall, Letham, Fife KY15 7RS
How can Local Authorities help Communities Recover Sustainable Food Systems?
The aim of this seminar is to directly contribute to a community
engagement strategy by which Local Authorities (and Fife Council in particular) can help Communities to develop sustainable food systems.
The day will include: community and local authority presentations, informal discussion and networking, a chance for participants to present their initiatives/ ideas, and space to collectively begin to develop a transformative food system for Fife. Issues to be addressed include:
• Can communities embed and expand community supported agriculture? • Should communities, councils, and other institutions use food life cycle analysis to
include all costs and benefits in food production, consumption and procurement? • Is it possible to rebuild the local - including skilled work, social networks and
community cohesion - in the light of our global responsibilities? • How can we individually change our behaviour to enact our food ideals?
We would welcome your participation. If you are interested in attending, contact
[email protected] by 18th April. There is no participant cost for this seminar but registration is essential. This team, from the Universities of St Andrews and Dundee, working
with Fife Council, will present our 4th and final seminar on Community on May 19th.
This project is part of the Engaging Scottish Local Authorities Programme, funded by ESRC, SFC and LARCI.
