MILES ADCOX

EYGLO BJARNADOTTIRWELCOME

In recovery we connect in love and service, we let love in and live in love. We are hardwired for love but the wiring

gets messed up in addiction as well as in other destructive painful experiences. Recovery is about untangling and restoring

the natural order of love in our lives. So my friends, walking through the doors of a little red house in downtown Reykjavik in

1989, a house where love had found its home, where love was the power source, the warmth, the compassion, the understanding and

the truth, started for me the journey that brings me here to you today. My sincere hope is that you will join us for a day of love, empowerment,

hope and pure joy, celebrating the freedom of recovery.

THE TRAUMA HEART; STORIES OF SURVIVAL AND HOPE

We live in an age of trauma. Many people who have been caught in the web of addiction don’t identify as trauma survivors until their personal,

familial, intergenerational and in-uterine history is fully understood. And when we recognize that childhood trauma, including abandonment and neglect,

are the building blocks of a person’s blueprint for functioning and thriving, we can understand the power of addiction as a soothing and survival mechanism

offering relief and release from the emotional and psychic pain of trauma and how addictive behaviours are learned very early in life. Judy explores making

sense of the behaviours, how to identify the signs that trauma may be an issue and offers the stories and process of healing that has worked with the most

“resistant” wounded individuals and her message of hope.

GISLI KORT KRISTOFERSSON

NOURISHING THE WHOLE SELF: LUNCH FEAST Solla through her food, will be sharing how she encapsulates the idea of clean living from the inside out. She will deliver a lunch feast that will explore the connection between food and a balanced recovery. Some of the foods we eat can cause dysfunction, switching off pathways to vibrant health. Physical, emotional, and mental discomfort results from improper nutrition. Solla will share ideas, concepts and practical tips proving that high levels of nutrition and wellbeing are accessible to all. Food is a crucial medicine for restoring balance and allowing the emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of recovery to have a better chance of succeeding.

GISLI KORT KRISTOFERSSON - A WHOLE PERSON APPROACH IN LONG TERM RECOVERY Gisli will discuss the basic principles of long-term recovery from substance use disorders and

integrative mental health as well as the appropriateness of applying the principles of integrative mental health in long-term recovery. A special emphasis will be placed on the risk benefit of various interventions commonly used in the

mental health system and their safety profile for individuals in recovery.
