This project will require raising $8 million through a capital campaign to fund construction and startup costs. The Wellness Center is designed to be an economic driver for Estes Park tourism as well as an additional service line for the Medical Center, our local independent hospital. Kevin Mullin, the Executive Director of the EPMC Foundation, will speak at the Rotary Club of Estes Park on Thursday, November 17, at their regular noon meeting. The EPMC Foundation is the fundraising arm of the EPMC and the lead agency for the capital campaign. Mullen will provide information about the project, and its benefits will be shared with Rotarians. Additionally, he has a Masterof Nonprofit Management degree and has held leadership positions in organizationssuch as the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army and the Leukemia & LymphomaSociety. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders who providehumanitarian service and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are 1.2million Rotary members in 34,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries andgeographical areas. Rotary clubs have been serving communities worldwide for morethan a century. Rotary clubs around the world initiate projects that address criticalissues such as conflict resolution, hunger, poverty, disease and illiteracy. The Rotary Club of Estes Park meets Thursdays at the Rodeway Inn in EstesPark. Visitors interested in learning more about Rotary and its programs are welcome toattend. Buffet is served at 11:30 a.m., the Rotary business meeting opens at noon, andthe program begins at 12:30 p.m.

Service Award for which our club wasnominated.

Meeting Notes, Nov. 10, 2016 President Thor Homme called the meeting to order. We welcomed ourAssistant District Governor, Ron Randle, who was visiting our clubtoday. Tara Moenning gave the invocation. Dave Evans led us in singing“America The Beautiful”, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. PhilMoenning led guest introductions. One our sojourners, Pat Vorreiter,attended today. We welcomed Jerry Kennell, husband of our presentertoday, and our Rick Taylor’s wife, Jan Taylor. Scott Thompson read an essay on “someone else” which urged us tostep up and volunteer rather than waiting for “someone else”. Thispertains to the fact that we have three offices to fill for 2018, includingPresident Elect, along with Sargent at Arms, Youth Vocation Services.The nominating committee has already talked to each one of us andwill be calling again. Thor commented that our membership is now less than the SunriseClub for the first time. Announcements

Dave Evans said he had completed listing duck adoptions foreach member for Ernie Altick credit. He and Pete Sumeyproduced letters for each of us listing our donation history. Weshould check these and tell Dave of any errors.Bob Brunson was in the hospital for a while and got out lastFriday. Thor had been visiting him and was concerned. However,Bob is home now and expects to return to Rotary.Robert Ludlum is not with us today as he had carpal tunnelsurgery.The Foundation Board meets November 17 at the Comfort Inn.

Philanthropy Day celebration is tonight at the YMCA. We have atable exhibit there. Our club is nominated for organizationPhilanthropist of the Year.Wayne Andersen announced it is time for Salvation Army bellringing. Our timeframe is Dec. 1-11. He has a couple BellCaptains and needs more. If we have 6-8 it is a moremanageable task. Contact Wayne to volunteer.Duck Race Committee meets November 17 at 5:00 atNicky’s. We also need the key to the PO Box 1226. Does anyonehave it?Thor said, beginning January, the 4th meeting of the month willbe for club committees to meet. The goal is to make it easier forcommittees to meet and thus to become more active.Friday Night Café volunteers are being coordinated by RogerThorp and Chuck Bonza. They will be contacting us to volunteer.We have also lost our box of Rotary rock paper weight gifts forour guest speakers. Has anyone seen it?

Happy MoneyRita DuChateau is so happy to have a new grandson that she donated$100 ! ProgramRick Taylor introduced our program. Leonor Kennell is EnglishLanguage Outreach Coordinator for the Estes Valley Library. DaveEvans and Pete Sumey successfully applied for a grant from ourDistrict Rotary for $1,000 to match our club’s $500 for a total of$1,500 for materials for a new initiative “Welcome to the USA”. Leonortold us about the English tutorial program and she needs tutors like usto teach immigrant adults English, one on one. The program now has30. Contact her at [email protected], 586-8116 x 836.
