WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 34/2014 5 November 2014

Kia ora Well the weather may have been against us during our annual calf club day on Monday however our students and their animals battled the elements to Rise Above and Shine. Boy, did they shine! Huge congratulations to all partici-pants for the care and attention you gave your animals and the pride you took in presenting to our kura. Our thanks also to whanau including the Scott’s for giving our children this very special opportunity and for actively being involved in this event. Good luck at group Day on Friday. Thanks also to our sponsors RD1, ANZ Waihi, LIC, Agrisea and Waihi Boys and Girls Agriculture Club. Also our fabulous judges Avon Gordon, Ruth Scott, Graham Walford and Janice Mercer. Our year 6 students are getting excited about their next learning journey to College. They are returning forms and have completed applications for our end of year prize giving. Today we welcomed back Thom, Kaurerewa, Hannah and Winnie, our stunning ex Waihi East School students. These students came back to school to share their experience of college life with our Year 6 students. It was fabulous to have these students at school and to hear about their challeng-es and successes during the year. Team Sammie are doing a fantastic job supporting kai times at school. Thank you for your kai donations, this makes a massive difference to student engagement, achievement and relationships across the school. Our senior school is looking for an additional person to help with the elective bike course each Friday morning between 9.15-10.45am alongside Tracey. If you can give up some time, please let Lisa in the office know. Any support is appreciated. Waihi East School athletics is next Wednesday. Come along and join in the fun as students participate in all events. A cluster event will follow for our first five placing. Notes will be sent home if this involves your child. Term four is an extremely busy term. Please keep an eye on our newsletter, website and watch out for our school texts. Please help remind your friends and family of school news and occasions. Thanks for your continued support and positive words. Nga mihi nui, Emily ([email protected])
