Membreo's family fled El Salvador to escape the political unrest of theearly 70's. After a few years in Mexico, they made their way to Weslaco,Texas where artist, Henry Membreo was born in 1975. He spent hisformative years in Houston, continuing his education in New York City at
the prestigious Cooper Union where he graduated in 1998. Membreoremained in Manhattan as a life-drawing instructor and eventually movedto Los Angeles in 1999, where he worked in television, as well as fashiondesign. In 2006, he returned to Texas.
