Catholic Campaign for Human Development
Next week, our second collection will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. More than 46 million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection supports programs to empower people to identify and ad-dress the obstacles they face as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. By supporting this collection, you give people a hand up, not a hand out. Learn more about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.
Why is Mass so important
in the life of a Catholic?
Do you like to take videos? If so, would you like to help the Communications Committee by taking short videos of parish events? Please email Janet Payton at [email protected] if you can help.
At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch. Catechism of the Catholic Church # 1323 - 1324

Mass Impact for Kids
For My Faith Challenge, each child received a booklet in class that
has spaces for stickers we will give out after Mass for eight weeks.
Completed booklets may be turned in for a Holy Martyrs coloring
book!
To receive a sticker, children should go to the place the question is
about and look for a staff person. For Week Six, we will meet at the
altar.
If your child misses any of the eight weeks, he or she may collect
one of the missed stickers at a time after the eighth week ends. Just
go to the Welcome Center after Mass.
Vote for Your Favorite Turkey Run Box
PSR classes have decorated the boxes that will hold the
Thanksgiving food we’ll donate to St. Augustine Hunger
Center in Cleveland.
Parishioners are invited to vote for the best decorated box
displayed at the top of the PLC stairs.
PSR students, ask your catechist which Mass your class
will be at for the Turkey Run. Arrive 15 minutes before
Mass to join the procession into the Worship Space.
Families are invited to join the caravan of parishioners
driving to St. Augustine’s to donate the food on Nov. 19.
Service Project Competition
We’re looking for your photos for the “Father,
Help Me to Serve” competition!
A prize will be awarded to the class that
has the highest percentage of students
who completed a service project
by Dec. 1.
A prize will be awarded to a group of
three families or more who do a service
project together. Take a group photo (by
Feb. 14) of the three families while they
are doing the service project. Then,
submit the photo for the contest.
A prize will be awarded to the family that
has done the most original service
project by March 1.
For ideas, see a list of 100 service project
ideas on our website.
Don’t forget to bring in a picture of your
family working on a service project.
Confirmation Meeting Nov. 28
Confirmation candidates and their parents should
attend the second session at 6 p.m. on Nov. 28.
Eighth graders should bring their journals.
Annual Advent Gathering
If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up for our annual
Advent Gathering, which is on Tuesday, December 12th
from 6:30-8 p.m.
We encourage PSR students to sign up to sing in
the choir or take a role in the Readers' Theater.
Signups for grades 2-6 are first come, first served, so sign
up early for rare roles. However, this year we are accepting
names for standbys for these popular parts. All first graders
will play the role of angels.
Practices are set for 5:45-6 p.m. in the church on Nov. 13 &
14, Nov. 20 & 21 and Nov. 27 & 28. Students may attend
the practice on the day of their regular PSR session.
A dress rehearsal will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9th from
1-2:30 p.m. in the church.
