Monday, Nov. 30 Class Back in Session News and Information FREE Flu vaccinations are available at the Kingsport Employee Wellness Center for KCS employees, spouses, retirees and dependents ages 4 and up who are currently enrolled in the KCS Health Insurance Plan. No appointment is necessary for a flu shot. Click flyer for dates and times. Tennessee State Board of Education launched a review website, to collect public feedback on Tennessee’s newly revised grade K-12 math and English language arts (ELA) standards. This is the first time the revised math and ELA standards, recently improved by Tennessee educators after earlier public input, will be available for public review. The new standards will be available for feedback online through mid--November. Click here for full news release and review website. Congratulations to four Dobyns- Bennett student-athletes who signed on the first full day of the fall signing period [from left] Haverly Harrold with Lee University, Abby Stratton with Roane State, Marissa Honeycutt with North Alabama and William Nottingham with Clemson. Math League were surprised by the neighborhood cows in their back- yard! :) Jackson Elem. was among 11 Tennessee schools recognized at the UT vs. South Carolina foot- ball game in Knoxville on Nov. 7, 2015 for winning the $1,000 Good Sports Always Recycle prize! Times-News Article Photos Lincoln Elem. students collected 28.2 pounds of can tabs which were taken to the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati. The boys helped put the tabs in the house pictured and were added to the collection. The RMH uses the can tabs to pay their electric bills for the house. Great job, Lions! Four medical students from ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine visited the D-B Health Science classes last week. Two of the students were D-B’s own Adam Metzger (2009) and Michael Stallard (2011). They spoke to the class about medical school (preparation and admission) and the vast opportunities for physicians. In addition, they brought cadaver specimens (brain, heart, eye, lungs, liver, and spleen). D-B Health Science students learned the structure and function of each specimen then were able to examine each during a hands-on activity. The Jefferson Elem.
