MESSAGE FROM MINISTER OF ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES AND MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLAN NORD PIERRE MOREAUQuébec Mines 2017 is focusing on three themes, Exchange - Innovate - Excel. Activities at the congress afford an ideal opportunity for networking. Innovation and excellence are thus sustained by the diversity of meetings and discussions devoted to mineral exploration and mining operations, the environment, the economy and social acceptability.

Gold is at the forefront this year in the Québec Mines program. The same goes for manpower training against a backdrop of digitization and automation and management in the Industry 4.0 era.

Moreover, the symposium on energy innovation minerals, a notable success last year, is back again with new content and also promises stimulating exchanges.

Students and the general public are not being overlooked since the Québec Mines Discovery section will enable them to explore time and space in a very specific manner.

I hope that you will take full advantage of this outstanding program, which offers numerous ways to advance in your spheres of activity.

Best wishes for a successful congress!

NEW ACCESS TO GEOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Géologie Québec is proud to announce the introduction of a new on-line geological information tool—the Bulletin géologiQUE. It offers clients full access to Québec’s geo-mineral information system (Système d’information géominière du Québec, or SIGÉOM) in a Web-based format. This is a new and improved way to access geological reports.

Its many advantages include:• clearer illustrations of mineral potential, the dissemination of geological data, and data interpretation, in a simple, user-friendly environment; • introduction of the concept of zones «favourable» to mineral exploration;• direct access to the latest SIGÉOM data (interactive map, SIGÉOM à la carte, etc.);• referencing through Web browsers.

The preliminary version of Bulletin géologiQUE will be presented at 9:00 a.m. on November 21 in the Exhibition hall. It will feature favourable zones discovered during work completed in the summer of 2017.
