I knew I could do plenty of good work through my Rotary club in Norman, Okla., USA. ButƚŚƌŽƵŐŚ�ŽƵƌ�&ŽƵŶĚĂƟŽŶ͕ �/�ĐŽƵůĚ�ŚĂǀ Ğ�Ă�ŚĂŶĚ�ŝŶ�ƚŚĞ�ǁ ŽƌŬ�ŽĨ�Ğǀ ĞƌLJ�ƐŝŶŐůĞ�ZŽƚĂƌLJ�ĐůƵď�ĂŶĚ�ĚŝƐͲƚƌŝĐƚ�ĂƌŽƵŶĚ�ƚŚĞ�ǁ ŽƌůĚ͘ �/�ĐŽƵůĚ�ůŽŽŬ�Ăƚ�ĂŶLJ�&ŽƵŶĚĂƟŽŶ-ƐƵƉƉŽƌƚĞĚ�ƉƌŽũĞĐƚ͕ �ĂŶLJ�&ŽƵŶĚĂƟŽŶ�ƉƌŽͲgram, any country that was declared polio-free, and say: I helped make that happen.

Grants Seminar
The Rotary Foundation Grants Seminar for District 6930 will take place on November 16, 2013 in
conjunction with our District Leadership Training Seminar. The Grants Seminar will be in the
afternoon – from after lunch to 2:00PM. For clubs to participate in Grants in the 2013-2014 Rotary
year they must have a representative at the Grants Seminar. We would like each club to be
represented by their President Elect and their Club Foundation Chair at the Grants Seminar.
Content of the Grants Seminar will be completely different this year. In recognition that some
Rotarians did not feel good about the process this year we will:
Review the history of District Simplified Grants and District Grants in District 6930
Review the process used this year

At the end of the small group exercise we will re-convene as a whole. Each group will be asked to
report to the entire body on their findings. No final decisions will be made during the Grants
Seminar as to the direction we will take for the 2013-2014 year. The Share Committee will meet later
on that afternoon – hopefully to come up with a solution that will satisfy everyone.
Please remember that for your club to be included in the grant process next year you MUST have a
representative at the Grants Seminar. Each club will, once again, be required to sign a Memorandum
of Understanding. Last year (for this Rotary year) we qualified all but one club in our District.
Unless you are sure you will not wish to participate in any Rotary Foundation grant activity you
should be represented. Don’t wait, thinking, “Someone else will sign up”.

We are very excited to announce that our District 6930's RYLA Leadership retreatweekend is scheduled for Thursday, April 10-13, 2014. It will again be held at theHoliday Inn in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Last year we had one of the most successfulevents in the history of District 6930. We had to close registration early because ofthe number of delegates that applied. This year we are limiting to 100, the delegateswe can host from various schools and including our 7 exchange students from ourdistrict.
This is an action packed weekend and a lot of preparation is going on as we writethis letter. This is a lifetime experience for the students (delegates) who attend thisweekend. Participants leave the experience with a renewed or enlarged sense ofpurpose, new friends and the confidence to return to his or her high school and com-munity with an awareness of the importance and impact of service leadership. Theyleave with established personal goals for their future life of service.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is a district-sponsored program that facili-tates club service to youth in the community by providing a leadership training retreatfor young people who are starting to show leadership potential.
Nancy and I are honored to lead your District RYLA, surrounded by an incredible Sr.Staff and Jr. Staff that is committed to our youth and " making a difference" in Rota-ry.
But nothing can happen until you get the ball rolling at your club. You were sent apacket which will help in your delegate selection process and timetable we would likeyou to adhere to. For us to organize a successful program, we are asking for clubcommitments to sponsor students by November 15, 2013. The cost is $400.00 perstudent which covers the cost of the hotel, food and speakers for the weekend. Wewill tell our District treasurer to invoice your Club for the number of delegates thatyou sponsored in 2013. You need to send in your payment by November 15, 2013 toreserve your delegates spot for the weekend.
