ART@NOON - Free Gallery Talk begins at Noon

Wednesday, November 19

Stop by the Museum of Art during your lunch break for an informal noon-time gallery talk with UMMA Director George Kinghorn. He will be discussing current UMMA exhibitions Roz Leibowitz: The Little Fools and Out of Nowhere: John Gallagher Paintings 1996-2014, on display at the Museum through January 3. ART@NOON talks are free and open to the public!

Weihnachtsmarkt-Christmas Market

The University of Maine German Club ~ Deutscher Verein ~ annually organizes a traditional Weihnachtsmarkt, or Christmas Market. This year's event will be held at the University of Maine Museum of Art. Christmas cookies, Stollen (Holiday bread) and traditional Christmas decorations will be featured. A little Cafe will also be on site where decorations, coffee, cake and Gluhwein (mulled wine, alcohol free) will be sold. Proceeds will benefit UMMA exhibition & education programs. Take this opportunity to enjoy some Holiday cheer while viewing the exhibitions in the Museum Galleries!

Downtown Countdown Crown Creation Celebration!

Begin your New Year celebration at UMMA! Bring your family and friends to the UMMA to create a glittering crown or tiara to wear throughout the evening. All of the sparkly supplies are provided for free.

The University of Maine Museum of Art will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, and Friday November 28th, Christmas Eve and Day, as well as New Years Day. The last day of showing of the current exhibition will be January 3rd.

Limited Christmas Hours for Concord Bus Lines

On Christmas Day, Concord Coach Lines will only be open between 6:30

am to 7:30 and between 2pm and 3:30 pm. It will be closed all other hours. There will not be any Cyr

bus service connections northbound or southbound from the terminal since the terminal will be closed

Girl Scouts – Volunteer!

Member News and Updates

We had a new chef start November 17th! His name is Arturo Montes and comes to us from the Looking Glass restaurant in Bar Harbor and previously from Montes Catering and Bakery. On November 20th we are having a Tap The Keg wine dinner celebrating the harvest. Beaujolais Nouveau is released on the third Thursday of November every year and we will be tapping a 15 liter oak keg, which will be featured with a 5-course meal. See attached flyers for more information.

The Nite Show with Danny Cashman

The Nite Show will have its next live taping at The Gracie Theatre at Husson University on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. Scheduled guests include: the newly crowned Miss Maine USA, a holiday performance from Anna Roman and Jump City Jazz, and Operatic Tenor, Richard Troxell (with more guests TBA). Tickets are free, but should be obtained through The Nite Show's website,www.theniteshowmaine.com and click on "Tickets".

Godfrey’s Grill is Open for Thanksgiving

For the holiday, Godfrey’s will be offering a Thanksgiving dinner

from 11am till 1pm.

The meal will consist of Tom Turkey, mashed potatoes, rich gravy, sausage stuffing, roasted

butternut squash and chef’s homemade cranberry sauce.

The cost will be $17 for adults and $10 for children under 10.

Desserts will be offered a la carte and will feature pumpkin pie, of

course!!

We will be offering our regular lunch/dinner menu for those who

want a different kind of thanksgiving dinner; fresh

seafood, steaks, sandwiches and salads.

The bar will be open to offer a range of wine, spirits, domestic

and imported beers.

For Thanksgiving, Dysart's Broadway Restaurant/Pub will be open 7 am - 4 pm and we'll be taking bakery orders until Nov. 24 at 5 pm. Forgot to order? We'll have some extras on hand.

For Thanksgiving this year we will be open our normal hours, 11am to midnight, and we will be offering a full traditional Turkey dinner with all the fixings, and a smaller Kids turkey dinner as well. These are both great for Takeout for people who don’t want to cook large meals for just a few guests!

We will be closing early at 6pm on Christmas Eve, and will be closed on Christmas Day.

Member Spotlight: SK Tours of Maine, LLC

Former owner of Bett’s bookstore, and Bangor native Stu Tinker, is the owner of SK Tours, recently highlighted by the LA Times.

As stated by the reporter “There’s nothing quite like hopping into a van painted with the face of Pennywise, the evil clown from King’s book “It,” to put you in the mood for hunting down the local nooks and crannies that have figured in the horrormeister’s works.”

Tours are at 9am and 2pm daily and run for three hours. Tours cost $55 for one or $80 for two, with $25 for an additional person.

The Fireside Inn is the home of Geahgan’s Restaurant and Craft Brewery. The hotel is located across the street from the Cross Insurance Center and the Hollywood Casino. The hotel is a non-smoking facility.

Friar’s Brewhouse St. Nicholas Holiday Ale Release Party!!!

Wednesday November 19th 5-7pm

Brother Donald of the Friars’ Brewhouse of the Franciscan Brothers of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, has created the 2nd Annual Edition of his St. Nicholas Ale, brewed just once a year, for the holiday season.

We are having the release party for this wonderful brew at the Bangor Wine and Cheese Co. next Wednesday, the 19th from 5-7pm. Samples will be available and of course the beer will be available to take home. There is but one batch a year, so don’t’ miss your chance to grab some!

Says Brother Donald of the beer, “Aside from being ridiculous (his term) the beer is a full bodied brown ale, spiced with orange peel, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger.” Each bottle will come with a gift bag.

We hold our regular Monthly Tastings on the third Thursday of each month at Bangor Wine and Cheese, and the third Friday of each month at Crossroads Beverage!

For November Newsletter: Holiday Hours In the spirit of family during Thanksgiving, The Bangor YMCA will be closed on Thursday, November 27th & Friday, November 28th, so that staff can spend time with family and friends. The Y will be back to its normal building hours on Saturday, November 29th. GIVE THE GIFT OF HEALTH THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME!
