FlintstoneTechnologyhaslaunchedanewpullthroughmooringconnectorsystemthataimsatlinestomidwaterbuoysandtofloatingfacilities.Flintstonesaysitsnewsystemmayreducethemake-uptimeby80%ormorecomparedtoothermethods.The company says thepull through connector canbedeployedon turret-basedmooringsystemsthatneedtobeabletodisconnectmooringlines,laydown,andreconnect new lineswithout the vessel disconnecting from the turret assembly.Flintstonehascontinuedtosaythattheconnectors, whichcanbedesignedforanymooring line load requirements, are installedandchangedusingROVsandpullthrough line from a support vessel. Forged in alloy steel to avoid the need forcorrosionpacks,thesystem'sdualaxisrotationeliminatesoutofplanebendingwhileitsself-aligningpropertiesdispensewithriggingrequirements.

In-situpressurecontrolinspectionlowerscosts

Avarietyofin-situinspectionandremediationtoolshavebeendesignedtoreducetheamountoftimeandmoneyrequiredtoinspectandrepairsubseaequipment.NOV'saimistolowerthetotalcostofownershipfordrillingcontractorsbyreducingtheneedtotransportlargeassetstoashore-basedrepairfacility.Ifequipmentfailsan in-field inspection, the drilling contractor canweigh the option of replacingequipmentorschedulinganin-facilityrepairtocorrecttheissue.Forinfieldrepairs,itisimportanttonotethatonlyaworkingpressuretestisrequired,removingtheneedforadedicatedtestbunker.
