With your help, this is what we continue to achieve at Hill House Hospice. I am so proud to be part of this team of dedicated nurses, volunteers and personal support workers; and YOU! All of you are an important part of this team also. Without your financial support, we could not help people “live until they die” or add life to their days! We ask for your support now more than ever. With such a growing population, being the only residential hospice in York Region and serving a population of over 1.8 million residents.... we average 100 % occupancy. Having cared for over 1400 residents and their families, we endeavour to continue to provide this care for many years to come. ank you for making Hill House Hospice the GEM that it is. With my sincere gratitude, Anne-Marie Dean RN CHPCN(C) Executive Director It is with heavy hearts that we dedicate this newsletter to Volunteer Nancy Adams and Personal Support Worker Yolanda Blassnig; both of whom died earlier this year. Nancy was an active volunteer at Hill House for many years, giving of her time and talent. When ‘house duties’ became too difficult, Nancy continued to nurture the staff and families by making sandwiches which her husband Hugh delivered. Every year, at Christmas, Nancy would give all the staff a ‘chosen’ angel momento. Our angel Nancy, you will be in our hearts forever. Yolanda was a personal support worker ‘extraordinaire’! She was an integral team member for over ten years at Hill House. Yolanda was a great mentor to students leading and teaching by her example of hard work, caring and compassion. Yolanda’s beautiful smile, infectious laughter and love of spicy food will be missed and she will be remembered well. Thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 375 (Richmond Hill) for their continued support. We remember and thank our serving men and women, past and present, for their service to our country.

A warm thank you to Karen Cilovitz, Councillor for inviting Hill House to set up our display at her First Annual Residents’ Summer Barbecue on July 12, 2015. It was a beautiful day, a great time was had by all. Thanks for stopping by Elvis Stoijko!

Thank you to The Richmond Hill Club 35 Seniors for their continued support. This is a fabulous group for people 55+ that meet at The M.L. McConaghy Seniors Centre for fun and recreation. We were fortunate to receive proceeds from their annual ‘quilt raffle’.

Thanks so much!

Hill House Hospice was the very fortunate and appreciative recipient of the proceeds from “The Tree of Life Campaign” Shoppers Drug Mart 9651 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill. Thank you Alan!

Thank you and “so long” to Cantabile Chorale. For 42 years, Robert & Lona have been bringing communities together with their music while raising much needed and appreciated funds for Hill House Hospice. Once again, the Cantabile Chorale performed their annual Ecumenical Concert on Friday, April 3rd and the proceeds were donated to Hill House. Their dedication and support has made a difference to the lives of so many! We will miss you!

Please shop at Hill House! We have Dragonfly cards, Holiday Gift Bags and Hill House Hospice Golf Hats all for $10.00 each. ‘Gift boxed scarves’ and ‘therapy neck pillows’ at $20.00. We also have assorted jewellery including pendants, bracelets and lapel pins. With the cold weather coming, its a good time to purchase a Hill House Hospice Sweatshirt. Various sizes $20-$25 each.

Thank you to WIG-Women In Golf for their continued support! A BIG thank you to Joanne, Wally, Caroline and the women’s group who fundraise for Hill House throughout the golf season. May you continue to hit it long and straight.

Thank you to Elgin Mills Cemetary and Visitation Centre for their generous donation which was presented to us last Spring. Their support is very much appreciated.

We would like to take this opportunity to recognize the Richmond Hill Old Timers Hockey League. They kindly donated a portion of the proceeds from their 2015 annual summer golf tournament to Hill House . Thank you for your support! This hockey league was founded in 1987 and has 112 players that range in age from 35 to 67. In addition to the other organizatons the Old Time Hockey League supports, they also collect used eye glasses for Doctors without Borders. If you would like to donate your used eye glasses, please drop them off to us and we will forward them to the hockey league. Thank you for making a difference!

The Richmond Hill Public Works department held their Open House in May, at the Operations Centre. It is a time for the community to get to know the Public Works department! Kids can climb into the seat of a snowplow, tractor or many of the other pieces of equipment. There are displays and competitions. The proceeds from their Barbecue were donated to Hill House Hospice. Thanks for that and for all the work you do to keep us safe! Thanks to Karin and Steve for volunteering their time once again!

During her last days at Hill House, Richvale Lion’s Club held a meeting at Nancy’s bedside and donated the proceeds from the Lion’s Club latest fundraising to Hill House. Nancy and Hugh took great pleasure in watching, outside her bedroom window, the pair of doves which arrived daily to visit at the bird feeder…..sent just for them!

Complementary Therapist MarianneThe gentle touch of massage for family...you’re not alone, I’m here to help, lets relax for a moment.

Thanks FORE choosing Hill House! The 45th Annual Richmond Hill Golf Classic (founded in 1970) was held in September at Cardinal’s Red Crest Golf Course and the proceeds were donated to Hill House. The Town of Richmond Hill uses this opportunity to foster business relationships amongst the Town employees and its business affiliates. A wonderful day of golf and networking was had by all. Thanks FORE……playing it forward….

Thank You

Cardinals come to visit “I am always with you”

“When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not here to see, if the sun should rise and see your eyes, filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today, while thinking of the many

things we didn’t get to say.I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time you think of

me, I know you’ll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for everytime you

think of me, I’m right there in your heart.”
