November 2018 This institution is an equal Employment/Educational Opportunity provider. In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities. Dear Parents and Patrons, It is hard to believe that it is November already. Just a reminder to the elementary parents, students are not allowed to wear shorts until spring break. Elementary students go out for recess on a daily basis and it is important students are dressed for the weather. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that attended a conferences this fall. Conferences are one way that we try to increase parent/school communications. Parent/teacher conference will be conducted a bit differently in the future. We are looking to increase the student involvement and ownership by having the parent/teacher conference being student led. With basketball approaching, I want to remind our fans that we need to stay positive. I do understand that officials make mistakes, and our kids deserve the very best officials that we can get. However, being negative towards the officials has the opposite effect of pushing great officials out. We are not the kind of community that wants the negative reputation. So I would appreciate your help and let's have a great season! November is also the time of the Veterans Day celebration. Lebo Public School would love to honor all of our Veterans for their service. We will be honoring our veterans on nov 12th at 1:30pm. If you would like to attend, please contact Mr. Brian Hadley for details or fill out a form and return it to the office. Starting November 13th, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness will be able to provide therapy services in our schools to help better meet the needs of the community without the inconvenience of having to travel to receive those services. Services provided in the schools will include the following: -Intake appoints (to start services) -Family and individual therapy sessions -Treatment planning sessions -Continue to offer Case Management services in the school to children who qualify and are engaged in therapy services. If you are interested in getting your child or children set up to receive therapy services, please contact CrossWinds customer service to set up an intake. At that time you can request services to be provided in the Burlington office or at Lebo High School or Lebo Elementary School: Burlington Office: (620-)340-6256 Main Office: (620-)343-2211 Thanksgiving break will start on the 21 through the 23. Have a happy Thanksgiving and take the time to reconnect with family. I am very thankful that you allow us to work with your kids on a daily basis. Duane Ford Principal

NHS News The National Honor Society painted sidewalk ramps and parking blocks for the City of Lebo on Sunday, October 21. Box Tops Please check your General Mills products for Box Tops for Education and send them to the Elementary Office. There are several of the products that used to have Box Tops that now do not have them. Some products do have Bonus Box Tops, so look for those, too. Please don’t stockpile the Box Tops as there are expiration dates. Just send them in as soon as you can! Thanks!

FBLA Takin’ Care of Business On Thursday, Oct. 25, twenty-two Lebo High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students participated in ESU's Business Career Day. There were more than 500 students at the event from throughout Kansas. At Career Day, each student took part in three career-related workshops of their choice from the following topics: Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Technology, Marketing, Data Analytics, Business Education, Insurance, Investments, Management and Human Resources.

During the break, students could relax and enjoy refreshments and a photo booth. During the opening session, LHS FBLA members played a KaHoots game about business leaders in Kansas and learned more about Emporia State University and their business-related careers offered. The LHS students placed 2nd and 4th in the game. To wrap up, students took part in a college-student panel on college life and how to prepare for college while in high school. All participants received information about interview skills needed in today's workplace and tips on how improve their job-interview skills.

Lebo Music Notes Congratulations to our Lebo Wolves Cross Country, Football and Volleyball teams. It's exciting to see how much

improvement our teams make from the beginning of the season. Our Lebo Pep Band is proud to support our athletes and we'll be ready for basketball pep band when November 30 rolls around for our opening game against Flint Hills. Thanks to everyone who ate chili, cinnamon rolls, worked in the kitchen, washed dishes, and attended our Fall 5-12 concert. Thanks especially to Jenny Markel who was the last one out of the kitchen after the concert! Our winter concert will be December 12, and we'll have another soup supper, this time with your choice of chili or potato soup. Stay tuned for more information on that. Friday, November 3 three of our LHS Band students will travel to Ft. Scott to audition for the Kansas Music Educators Southeast Honor Band. Tuesday, November 6 our junior high and high school choir students will travel to Emporia State to combine with the choirs of the Lyon County League to take part in the annual LCL Choir Festival. We'll begin rehearsing at 1:00 p.m., break for dinner and to change clothes about 5:30 and begin the concert in Webb Hall of the ESU Memorial Union at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited and admission is free. Those events mark the beginning of a busy season of honor bands and choir activities and I've included the list below, through January. If you're a Lebo area veteran, please plan to attend our annual Veterans Celebration on the afternoon of November 12.
