One thing about Ellen Whyte you can count on, is that you can never categorize her as a one trick pony. She has fronted bands for over 35 years and melds her rich influences of jazz, blues, rock, gospel and Americana into every performance. Whether it is a solo, duo, trio, her five piece combo or her 10 piece big band, traces of all these influences can be masterfully heard. She describes her selections of original and cover tunes as “heart rocking” music, and makes every song her own. She has also been an artist-in-residence in local schools.
