Hello! I hope this newsletter finds you doing well and staying healthy! As I am writing this we have already had two snow events, and today it is supposed to be 60 degrees out. I have a feeling we are going to have a rollercoaster winter season, and I am not ready! Our Make a Difference Day project, Socks and Sweats for Vets, was a great success. We collected and donated 518items to the Cornerstone Rescue Mission Veterans Program in Rapid City, and Black Hills VA at Fort Meade. We had a lot of volunteers in both Rapid City and Spearfish drop off items. I would love to name everyone but I dont have enough room! THANK YOU so much for donating items to this fantastic project. We will be collecting items again next year for this project. I have been asked about our annual recognition event. I am still in the process of setting the dates for the events. We will be having one in Rapid City and one in Spearfish like last year. I am not sure what exactly we will be able to do this year, and when the recognition events will take place, stay tunedThe Bus Depot in Rapid City is still closed to the public. If you need to drop off anything at the office or want to stop and visit, please use the side door off of Apolda Street. If you want to visit the Spearfish office, please use the door on the east side of the building. It will be the door on the right hand side when facing the building. The front door is usually locked. I am sure I sound like a broken record, but if you have gotten a new phone number, email address or have moved please let the office know. I have had a lot of emails come back to me because the email address is invalid. There is a chance it was entered wrong in our system, but just a reminder if you have a new email please let us know. If you havent been receiving emails from RSVP please let us know and we can make sure we have the correct email in our system, I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season, and is able to enjoy family and lots of yummy food! I look forward to seeing what 2022 has to offer! As always thank you for all that you do to make your community a better place through volunteering. I appreciate each and every one of you. - All the best, Ann Ann Hines - Director [email protected] November 2021 Lorann Berg - Coordinator [email protected] Julie Becker, Kelly Becker, John Bennett, Chuck Berdan, Marilyn Berdan, Linda Berghorst, Rita Bollurtt, Floy Brindley, Colleen Butler, Colleen Cooper, Rose Donovan, Gerie Ericson, Sheila Ann Frost, Debra Geiger, Sandy Gest, Mary Goarlich, Jeanette Hoff, Monica Ingalls, Lori Kimball+, Patsy Livingston, Judith Luebke, Karen Muller, Michele Post, Mary Riley, Vi Rosedahl, Vic Schamber, Donna Scheller, Julie Schreibeis, Thomas Secrest, Edward Shimp, Linda Shimp, Frances Trainer, Steve Waterman, Kathy Wood (+indicates under 55)

Hello!

I hope this newsletter finds you doing well and staying healthy! As I am writing this we have already had

two snow events, and today it is supposed to be 60 degrees out. I have a feeling we are going to have a

rollercoaster winter season, and I am not ready!

Our Make a Difference Day project, Socks and Sweats for Vets, was a great success. We collected and

donated 518items to the Cornerstone Rescue Mission Veterans Program in Rapid City, and Black Hills VA

at Fort Meade. We had a lot of volunteers in both Rapid City and Spearfish drop off items. I would love to

name everyone but I don’t have enough room! THANK YOU so much for donating items to this fantastic

project. We will be collecting items again next year for this project.

I have been asked about our annual recognition event. I am still in the process of setting the dates for the

events. We will be having one in Rapid City and one in Spearfish like last year. I am not sure what exactly

we will be able to do this year, and when the recognition events will take place, stay tuned…

The Bus Depot in Rapid City is still closed to the public. If you need to drop off anything at the office or

want to stop and visit, please use the side door off of Apolda Street. If you want to visit the Spearfish office,

please use the door on the east side of the building. It will be the door on the right hand side when facing

the building. The front door is usually locked.

I am sure I sound like a broken record, but if you have gotten a new phone number, email address or have

moved please let the office know. I have had a lot of emails come back to me because the email address is

invalid. There is a chance it was entered wrong in our system, but just a reminder if you have a new email

please let us know. If you haven’t been receiving emails from RSVP please let us know and we can make

sure we have the correct email in our system,

I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season, and is able to enjoy family and lots of yummy food! I look

forward to seeing what 2022 has to offer!

As always thank you for all that you do to make your community a better place through volunteering.

I appreciate each and every one of you. - All the best, Ann

Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in any of the opportunities listed below, please call the RSVP office at 394-2507.

Salvation Army: The Salvation Army in Rapid City and Spearfish needs help with their annual toy

shop. Volunteers are needed to help set up the toy shop in RC December 6th - 10th and Spearfish

December 16th . Help is also needed in Spearfish on December 17th to be toy ‘shoppers’. They are also

looking for bell ringers in Rapid City starting November 19th - December 24th. Call or email for times.

Belle Fourche Senior Citizen Center: The center is looking for help delivering meals to residents

during the lunch hour. BFSCC prepares and delivers meals to members and the general public. They

are also looking for volunteers to call members weekly to check in and make sure they are doing ok.

This can be done from the comfort of your home, so you do not need to live in Belle Fourche!

If neither of these opportunities interest you, please give the office a call or shoot me an email at

[email protected]. I would love to visit about what else we have going on throughout the area.

What’s cookin’??

With Thanksgiving and Christmas

right around the corner I wanted

to share with you Miss Edna’s

Yummy Cranberry Sauce. Miss

Enda was a volunteer for almost

35 years, and lived to the grand

age of 104. Maybe this cranberry

sauce was the key to making it

well into the 100’s!

EDNA’S YUMMY CRANBERRY

SAUCE

Ingredients

12 oz. package of fresh, whole

cranberries

1 1/2 cup sugar

1 tbsp. to just under 1/4 c.

brandy. Edna would suggest

that you use Apricot Brandy

Directions

1. Spread cranberries evenly

over the bottom of a 7x12x2

baking pan..

2. Sprinkle cranberries with 1 1/2

cups of sugar.

3. Cover tightly with foil and bake

at 350 degrees for 40-50

minutes.

4. Let cool, and then add brandy

and stir.

5. Enjoy!

In Loving memory of:

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields.

VOLUNTEER OF THE QUARTER!

GALE RAMBERG

Has been named our

OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER

OF THE QUARTER!

Gale joined West River RSVP+ in 2020, but was a

volunteer with Black Hills State University RSVP

since roughly 2010. During her short 1 year with West

River RSVP+, Gale has provided more than 300 of

volunteer service to our community. Gale is very active

with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church sewing quilts, and

she also volunteers at the High Plains Heritage

Center.

Gale has also been an active volunteer at Mountain

View Elementary in Spearfish reading to children and

helping teachers with prep work. In the past, and still

to this day, Gale has volunteered with the Red Cross,

VFW and has made quilts for Veterans. I am sure I am

missing a few volunteer activities she has been

involved in, but this gives you a small idea of what

Gale has done, and continues to do for her community.

We are truly grateful for her contributions to our

community through volunteer work, and are very

honored to recognize Gale as our VOLUNTEER OF

THE QUARTER! Thank you for all that you do for

your community!

Don’t forget to turn your timesheet by the 10th of each month.
