They communicate our annual Stewardship Emphasis. A life of Christian stewardship is an opportunity to experience the blessing that God wants to give us. The Apostle Paul wrote about this in Philippians 4:10-20. During the three weeks of our Stewardship Emphasis, we will look at this passage each week and discover different facets of this wonderful blessing that we can experience. First . . . let’s talk about the Blessing of Community. We join together in the Body of Christ and experience community in the church. We worship together, pray together, learn together, love together, cry together . . . and the list goes on and on. We tried to capture the importance of community in our mission statement: Knowing, Loving, Serving Christ . . . together. We do what we do – together. We are who we are – together. That is the blessing of community. But what does that have to do with stewardship? Isn’t stewardship about giving our money? Yes it is about being generous with our finances. But it is also about the investing of our lives – time and talents – for the Kingdom of God. Community only happens as we are willing to give and make that investment. When you show up – someone will be touched. If you are not there – someone will miss out on what you have to offer. This Sunday we are encouraging everyone to show up. Come to Sunday School – participate in worship. We will talk about the blessings of community as we come around the Lord’s Table to observe Communion. What an appropriate symbol for us to observe as we take from the common table. I hope that you will be here to experience the blessing. I hope that you will also come to give a blessing. Be a part of the community who thanks Catherine Miller on the occasion of her retirement after thirty years on our church staff. Come be a part of the community who blesses Bill Lunsford and Scott Whetzel as we set them apart for Deacon ministry in the Ordination Service in our newly-renovated Chapel. This Sunday November 6, the church will celebrate the 30 years of service
Catherine Miller has given to FBC. You are cordially invited to join us for this reception
in the church Parlor from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. to honor Catherine Miller. Church
members are encouraged to write notes of appreciation to Catherine for her long
and dedicated life’s work. These notes will be presented to her in a collected volume at her reception. For this reason, please
write your note on 8.5”x11” paper. You may write a note and mail it to the church, drop it off in the main office, or submit it online
at www.fbchsv.org/catherine. Paper will be available on the tables during Wednesday night supper on November 2nd as well as her reception for those persons unable to

Camp ToknowHim is where our students go for fall retreat every year. It is a privately owned camp dedicated to spiritual growth for all that use the space.
The camp was heavily hit by one of the April 27 tornadoes.

At the request of Jack Lucas who has volunteered in this capacity since 1951, the Personnel Committee began talking about this new position. After developing a job description and considering individuals who would be ideal candidates for the position, conversations began with one of our own volunteers. Dru was born into the nursery at FBC and
has loved and served First Baptist Church faithfully over the years as a volunteer. As Media Director, Dru will be responsible for recruitment and enlistment of all individuals serving on audio and video teams in our church. As our producer and engineer for media at FBC, Dru will work closely with our ministerial staff and volunteers. This is a part-time position with an official start date of November 1. Share your words of personal welcome and congratulations to Dru as you see him around the church. You may contact him at [email protected].
