Costa Rica Mission Trip We are planning our first mission trip to Costa Rica, and in order to finalize details we would like to know how many are interested in going. We will depart on Thurs, March 14 and return home on Tues, March 18. Much of the time there will be spent with the at-risk children in Jaco, Costa Rica, attending church with the families on Sunday and a community picnic that afternoon, and helping to build the Refuge's new safe haven for the children. There will be one day spent sightseeing. To cover airfare, lodging and other expenses, we are estimating the cost to be $1,000 per person. If you are interested in

Team G(race) Update

This year’s campaign for Team G(race), Running for Eli, is winding down. Last week, 8 runners from the team participated in the Columbus Marathon and half marathon, and the only races left this year are fun, holiday themed races. So far this year, our members have run over 1,000 miles just in races alone, and we’ve seen multiple personal records achieved, a first time ultra marathoner, several first time trail runners, and five fist time full marathoners. The team has grown since being founded by Brett Began and Cynde Sroufe in 2011, and 2013 should see that growth continue. Our most important goal this year has not been achieved yet, which is raising money for Eli and children’s cancer research. The campaign was named after Eli Leingang, the 2 year old from Pleasant Hill who was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2011. He is currently in remission but continues to undergo treatments. The team has risen over $3,000 of our $5,000 goal, and the money raised will go to a foundation being set up by Eli’s parents to help other kids with cancer, in addition to a gift to CureSearch, a leading children’s cancer charity. If you would like to make a

donation before our campaign closes on Oct 31, you can do so online at http://teamgrace2012.kintera.org, or by check payable to Troy FUMC with “Team Grace-Eli” in the memo. On behalf of the entire team and Eli, thank you for your support this year of the community’s only charitable running team.

Today’s Anthem: “Canticle of Heaven” Craig Courtney

Those who are clothed in white,

Who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb,

Who are before the throne of God, Who serve Him day and night within His

temple; And he who sits upon the throne

Will spread His tent over them.

They shall hunger no more; They shall thirst no more.

The sun shall not strike them, Nor scorching heat.

For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will

shepherd them; He will lead them to springs of living water;

God will wipe every tear from their eyes. And I heard a loud voice from the throne

saying:

“Now is the dwelling of God with mankind, and He shall dwell with them; They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, No more mourning or crying or pain; For the old order of things has passed away.”

The Altar Flowers are presented to the Glory of God by Stan, Nancy & Julie Shaw, Tom, Pam, Ruth, Lydia, Elijah, Hannah, James and Esther Looker,

in loving memory of John Shaw.
