November 1st—Daylight Savings Time Ends

What is daylight savings?

Daylight Savings is a change in the standard time with the purpose of

making better use of daylight and conserving energy.

November 11th—Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a national holiday celebrated on the anniversary of the

end of World War I (November 11, 1918) and is a day dedicated to the

cause of world peace and to honor American veterans and the victims

of all wars.

November 26th—Thanksgiving

An annual holiday which commemorates a harvest festival

celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621, and is held in the US on the

fourth Thursday in November.

While you are setting your clocks back 1 hour, don’t

forget to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors!

Cranberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Blend almond milk, banana, mixed berries, and cranberries in a blender until smooth; refrigerate until

chilled, at least 1 hour.

Serve Cold and Enjoy!

Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium bowl, mix together the crushed gingersnap

cookies, pecans, and butter. Press into the bottom, and about 1 inch up the sides of a 9-inch spring-form

pan. Bake crust 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Set aside to cool..

2. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, and vanilla just until smooth. Mix in

eggs one at a time, blending well after each. Set aside 1 cup of the mixture. Blend 1/4 cup sugar,

pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg into the remaining mixture.

3. Spread the pumpkin flavored batter into the crust, and drop the plain batter by the spoonful onto the

top. Swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.

4. Bake 55 minutes in the preheated oven, or until filling is set. Run a knife around the edge of the pan.

Allow to cool before removing rim. Chill at least 4 hours before serving.

Serve and Enjoy!

1 1/2 cups crushed gingersnap cookies 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup finely chopped pecans 3 eggs

1/3 cup butter, melted 1 cup canned pumpkin

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3/4 cup white sugar, divided 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup almond milk 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries

1 banana 1/2 cup fresh cranberries

Apple Pie

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

2. Mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon peel.

3. Line one crust in a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan. Layer 1/3 of apples into pie crust. Sprinkle with sugar

mixture and repeat until done. Sprinkle with lemon juice and dot with butter.

4. Place second pie crust on top of filling and flute the edges. Cut vents in top crust and brush with milk for

a glazed appearance if desired.

5. Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 40 to 50 minutes.

Let Cool, Serve and Enjoy!

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon butter

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 9-inch double pie crust

1/2 teaspoon lemon zest 4 tablespoons milk (optional)

Wild Rice and Leftover Turkey Casserole

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. Mix cream of mushroom soup, water, turkey, wild rice, milk and onion together in a 2-quart casserole

dish. Cover dish with aluminum foil.

3. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes. Remove foil and cook until rice is tender and liquid is

absorbed, 10 to 15 minutes more.

Serve and Enjoy!

1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of

mushroom soup

1 (6 ounce) package wild rice

2 1/4 cups boiling water 1/3 cup milk

2 cups cubed cooked turkey 1/4 cup chopped onion

Whipped Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Heat milk in a small saucepan over low heat until the milk begins to steam. Whisk in the sugar, cocoa

powder, vanilla extract, and salt until dissolved. Stir in the chocolate until melted. Remove saucepan

from heat, and allow to cool slightly.

2. Beat the heavy cream in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the

whipped cream into the hot chocolate.

Serve Hot and Enjoy!

1 cup milk 2 tablespoons sweetened cocoa powder

1/3 cup white sugar 1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 (1 ounce) squares semisweet baking

chocolate, broken into pieces

1 pinch salt

Turkey Salad

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. In a bowl, mix the turkey meat, celery, jalapeno, relish, and mayonnaise. Season with cilantro, salt,

pepper.

2. Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Serve chilled and Enjoy!

5 cups cooked turkey meat, chopped 1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup finely chopped celery 1 tablespoon dried cilantro

1 fresh jalapeno pepper, diced 2 teaspoons salt

3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish 2 teaspoons pepper
