November - December 2017 1 THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US — LET’S CELEBRATE! We’re preparing for our Holiday season now, a season centered around the birth of Christ con- sciousness. This is the Christ Consciousness that is in all of us! It is the consciousness we share with one another; and it is the link we share with God. You are one with God! This is our eternal truth! Whatever else we have learned or realized is secondary to this truth; for whether or not we know it, this is the answer mankind has always looked for. That Christ consciousness exists within every one of us! That is where we find God. We need but look. We look within, and we find the wisdom within our wholeheartedness. Within the mind united with our heart, we find the Holy Spirit, reminding you of your divine connection with God, and with all of God’s lov- ing creations. The Holy Spirit within you has you expressing this as you look without; as you look to your brothers and sisters, look for the Christ within them. Make the link that calls you to bring peace and love to them in whatever form you are called to do this. For you are then affirming the divine connection that exists in them and in yourself. What’s the big deal? The big deal is we are celebrat- ing the way to awaken to the love that is ours from our Creator. The love that has never left us; but we have hidden. We have hidden this when we choose to look for another way. When did we do this? When we chose to separate ourselves from one another. And when we chose to go it alone. When we chose to rely on thinking we have developed: for example the belief that I am alone, and it is completely up to me to take care of myself and all that matters to me. That think- ing keeps me/us separate; it closes us down from lov- ing one another and from allowing our love to be the guide in our relationships with one another. This was the case 2000 years ago when our Way Shower joined us; up until Jesus’ awakening, our beliefs and thought system were not questioned. We simply lived in a state of continual fear, of loss, of aloneness, and of being separate from one another. His awakening and his subsequent lessons empow- ered us to question our own state of mind then; and those same questions are warranted now. The true gift of Christmas is when we find an awareness of our deepest truth—The Christ Mind is our Mind. That is our reality as God’s creation. Jesus continued to point us to this truth of our creation, our reality; and this the truth we share with all of the rest of God’s Creation. That direction ex- ists today, only not in the manner we have been led to believe. That direction is based on love, and only love. Our experience of loving one another, and loving ourselves is the path he is directing us toward. For any other thinking takes us in an opposite direction— away from knowing our divinity, our eternal truth. I am reminded of two lines from scripture that speak to the message we have learned that brings forward the light, the hope, the grace that is ours: “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) What “they do” is forward a belief in separation—a belief that for me to win, another must lose. Let us use this season to find a way to make the connection within us; that which enables us to know as I see another is how I see myself. It will never be different. For the same thinking is the same thought process being applied to both. Love brings out the Oneness we share. “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all his righ- teousness; ask and all will be given unto you.” (Mat- thew 6:33) Seek ye, or Will ye to find the Kingdom, the Presence of God. And from that, awaken to the shift of results in your life. Watch yourself finding deeper and more heart-based answers to those questions that can truly fill your heart, your grace, your vision, and your world. This is our Holiday Season and like the rest of the year, it’s coming up fast! Can we bring joy into the Holiday Season that takes us from our separation to our oneness? Let the Spirit of Christ-mas begin to percolate in you, and may you find a Holiday season like never before. Find this as the gift you wish, and the gift you would extend to all. And see an invitation from me to co-create a loving Christmas filled with light and Love. - Rev. Bill Rev. Bill Heller

THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US — LET’S CELEBRATE!We’re preparing for

our Holiday season now, a season centered around the birth of Christ con-sciousness. This is the Christ Consciousness that is in all of us! It is the consciousness we share with one another; and it is the link we share with God. You are one with God! This is our eternal truth! Whatever else we have learned or

realized is secondary to this truth; for whether or not we know it, this is the answer mankind has always looked for.

That Christ consciousness exists within every one of us! That is where we find God. We need but look. We look within, and we find the wisdom within our wholeheartedness. Within the mind united with our heart, we find the Holy Spirit, reminding you of your divine connection with God, and with all of God’s lov-ing creations.

The big deal is we are celebrat-ing the way to awaken to the love that is ours from our Creator. That think-ing keeps me/us separate; it closes us down from lov-ing one another and from allowing our love to be the guide in our relationships with one another.

This was the case 2000 years ago when our Way Shower joined us; up until Jesus’ awakening, our beliefs and thought system were not questioned. We

simply lived in a state of continual fear, of loss, of aloneness, and of being separate from one another. His awakening and his subsequent lessons empow-ered us to question our own state of mind then; and those same questions are warranted now. The true gift of Christmas is when we find an awareness of our deepest truth—The Christ Mind is our Mind. That is our reality as God’s creation.

Jesus continued to point us to this truth of our creation, our reality; and this the truth we share with all of the rest of God’s Creation. That direction ex-ists today, only not in the manner we have been led to believe. That direction is based on love, and only love. Our experience of loving one another, and loving ourselves is the path he is directing us toward. For any other thinking takes us in an opposite direction—away from knowing our divinity, our eternal truth.

I am reminded of two lines from scripture that speak to the message we have learned that brings forward the light, the hope, the grace that is ours:

“Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) What “they do” is forward a belief in separation—a belief that for me to win, another must lose. Let us use this season to find a way to make the connection within us; that which enables us to know as I see another is how I see myself. It will never be different. For the same thinking is the same thought process being applied to both. Love brings out the Oneness we share.

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all his righ-teousness; ask and all will be given unto you.” (Mat-thew 6:33) Seek ye, or Will ye to find the Kingdom, the Presence of God. And from that, awaken to the shift of results in your life. Watch yourself finding deeper and more heart-based answers to those questions that can truly fill your heart, your grace, your vision, and your world.

Let the Spirit of Christ-mas begin to percolate in you, and may you find a Holiday season like never before. Find this as the gift you wish, and the gift you would extend to all. And see an invitation from me to co-create a loving Christmas filled with light and Love.

DECORATING TEAM

Fall arrangements were created and placed in the chapel. Carolyn Lebo prepared beauti-ful bows that were placed this past Sunday. We won't need new centerpieces for fellowship hall for a few weeks, as Play with Your Food will be presenting plays.

Fall centerpieces will then be created and placed. And Christmas is coming with dreams of new arrangements this year! Help will be needed to decorate both the chapel and fellowship hall; watch for sign-up sheets the first week of De-cember!

Team Leader - Gail Daigh

Blessings to All,

Prayer is a way for us to become centered and grounded in our truth of Spirit within. Prayer Chaplains are available to help you stand in the truth of Spirit, to hold spiritual space, listen with a loving heart, pray and hold in confidence what is shared. So whatever support you desire along your spiritual journey, our prayer chaplains here at Unity are here to support you. We all go through difficult times; it is nice to know that we are not alone.

Beginning in the new year we will be imple-menting monthly Wellness Calls for prayer sup-port. Coming soon will be an opportunity to sign up to receive a monthly call from a designated prayer chaplain.

Your Prayer Chaplains are highly trained. We just finished our first Three Day Training of new and renewal Prayer Chaplain as of the 6th, 7th, & 8th of October. Coming up on the 19th of No-vember we will continue with Wellness Calls, and training continues in December with Visitation Calls. Visitation Calls will provide prayer support to those who are unable to attend Sunday morn-ing service.

It is my pleasure to serve you here at Unity Chapel of Hemet.

Sharing of the Tao Te Ching, which is usually translated as “the way” or “the path,” is another way of looking at and understanding God's universal creative life force flowing around and through all things.

In this loving wisdom-filled book, Lao Tzu's sacred writings, Tao Te Ching, we celebrate the beautiful dynamic balance of body, mind, and spirit as we express more harmony in all aspects of our life while expanding our consciousness.

Come join this ascending consciousness class for a more in-depth knowledge as we bathe in God's river of flowing energy while dealing with our individual life lessons.

Class meets every other week on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. at Unity’s admin-istrative building.

MATTERS of the HEARTLiving the Tao Te Ching

by Dr. Wayne Dyer

I was back in the saddle again and did not mind at all. Edie was busy helping dear Mike. We did in fact meet for vittles at Little Italy and everyone enjoyed their Italian dinner. The com-pany was delightful. Eighteen Unity-minded people were there for fellowship, lots of laughter, and positive talk.

Those present chose Emilio’s as our next get-together. We haven’t been there in quite some time as a group. Emilio’s is not open on Mondays so we will meet Sunday, November 12, at 5 o’clock. I have been there and the waitress we had is certainly no longer working. I think it will be great again.

After we chose Emilio’s we heard El Patron was now open. The ladies enjoying Oak Glen wanted to change to El Patron and I gave them a call. At this time they will not accept res-ervations. That includes November. Their grand opening is going so well that we need to wait as a group. Let’s face it, it doesn’t matter where we eat as it is an evening of laughter and the opportunity to know each other on a more personal level. We’ll see you in November!

What a busy two months the Hospitality Team has had! Chili Cook-Off for Kids 2 Camp (teaming with the Youth Ministry Team), Oktoberfest for Youth Ministry (teaming with Women of Unity, and the Youth Ministry Team), teaming with the Sunshine Team for Celebra-tion of Life services, as well as our regularly scheduled Friendship Hour after services.

After a two-week hiatus, due to a Play With Your Food production, we are looking forward to the resumption of the Friendship hour on November 5th. November will offer the “Bring ‘em Back” Thanksgiving Potluck on

Sunday, November 19th. December will bring the annual Kids 2 Camp Cookie Walk (teaming with the Youth Ministry Team) on December 10th, and the Christmas Potluck on December 17th.

The Hospitality Team is currently looking for two additional team members. If you feel you can do what we call the “Kitchen Dance,” then please contact me for further information, or contact the office for a copy of the Hospitality Team Job Descriptions.

I want to thank my wonderful team, Bonnie Januszewski, Gloria Saporito, and Kimirly Black. With all of your support and hard work, you’ve helped make all of our events a great success! Thank you!

Thanks ever so much for the Love Offering donations placed in our bowl during regular Friend-ship Sundays. Your donations help to cover the cost of supplies, and even tablecloths (as necessary). Thanks to all!

Love Grows Here

We are very excited in the Youth Minis-try Team! First, we want to welcome Angie McQuown and Nancy Austin as Sunday School Teachers! With our Assistant, Joann, we now have a team with four members. We are also grateful that more people are hoping to join the Youth Ministry, so abundance is everywhere!

Also, thanks to the creative work of Kim Black, we now have a wonderful Welcome Packet for children! Kim did a remarkable job putting the packet together which includes a picture book showing our own wonderful youth. Thank you to Kim and Pam Balys for sharing that Love Grows Here!

Another big thank you to Bob and JanMarie Gruse for helping the children prepare for the “Chicken Dance” performance at the Oktober-fest. We love their spirit of Joy that the children could express in dance. I hope you enjoyed the chance to dance too.

On the fifth Sunday this month, Judy Bjorklund is joining us for a special Halloween activity—more news on that next time! But, we can't wait!!

God bless,Mitzi Carver

I was just asked, “Who are the Women of Unity?” I start each newsletter with the answer! If you attend church and are female you are one of us! You have the creative powers to make things happen! You are a huge part of what makes Unity work. The opportunity to know each other and share laughter is very important to our group. Next time you see a sign-up sheet for a Women of Unity outing, sign up for fun! We were so happy that Dianne Brandt joined us on our last outing. She is new to our church and took the opportunity to bond with us! Welcome to Unity, Dianne!

Today was our annual Oktoberfest! What a wonderful success, thanks to all of you! The brats were soooo good and it wasn’t the Women of Unity who cooked them. The husbands got involved! Everything that was made was so good! I thank Scotty and dear friend Diane Pearson for shopping, decorating and dressing in the spirit.

The “chicken dance” was led expertly by Bob Gruse and the children were delightful. I did find out that our own Rev. Bill had practiced the dance so guess who is in charge next year? Hospitality took such expert care of us and we raised some money for the Kids Camp. Who could ask for more? A real win-win. Remember, it takes a village to make things work. And this village is filled with love.

October found us car-pooling to Oak Glen for lunch at Apple Annie’s. It’s a good thing we had reservations. That town was filled with people. They are known for their fried chicken and apple pie. Some of us shared the chicken so we could have pie! I did a little Christmas shopping. Pat Ryman was delightful and sat patiently on benches in front of the stores. Thanks Pat! I was asked if this could be an annual event. We would change restaurants as they presented us with one bill. There were 11-12 of us and it was a real challenge, met with good spirit.

December will be a Christmas luncheon. This is going to be super fun. It will be a potluck starting at Diane Pearson’s home for appetizers, followed by main dishes at Judy Bjorklund’s home. Topping this off will be desserts at Gloria Saporito’s residence. They all live in Seven Hills so this isn’t complicated. The date is Friday, December 8th. We will keep the food uncomplicated so plan on being with us. We will probably start at 11:30.

All of us need to find time for ourselves. We are so busy with life but remember, “Getting together with girlfriends lightens our trials in life and smiles bring out your beauty!”

Blessings, Cookie Scott

Sunshine MinistryVision: We are of One Life, One Mind, One

Heart, realizing goodness as the prospering unified principle in every life.

The Sunshine Team is following the direction of other committees and will now be meeting quarterly. Our next meeting is November 9th at 1:30. If you would like to share lunch with Cookie, be at Polly’s at noon.

The main purpose of the Unity Sunshine Team is to extend our love and help in all ways possi-ble for Celebrations of Life. We attend the meet-ing with the minister to set the date and time and start the process of extending our love to the remaining spouse. We are a loving team that has a connection to all who attend Unity.

Our next loving task is to send cards of all descriptions to our spiritual family. It is not just in times of illness, but congratulations and thank you cards to those who give of themselves to our beautiful church. That’s where we need you. Sim-ply give us a name and we will provide the caring connection.

Our team consists of Rev. Bill Heller, providing pastoral care, along with Rev. Leora Nash, Cookie Scott, Rene Allison, JanMarie Gruse, Edie Sweet-en, Irene Barnhouse, Gail Daigh, Mitzi Carver, Gloria Brunning, Judy Bjorklund and Carolyn Lebo.

Our Master designer of all cards, Rene Allison, has created a couple more cards for different sit-uations. It is my honor to send her loving cards to those who might need a smile or a thank you for their joyful work in our church. A new fur baby condolence card brought tears to my eyes. You are the best Rene and we love you!

We send our love and sympathy to our dear Edie Sweeten, Kelli, and their family. A beauti-ful Celebration of Life was held for our special friend, Mike, on September 30th. Mike was a wonderful, gentle man who gave of himself in all areas at Unity. A board member, a member

of our choir, supporter in our events, Spring Tea server, and he enjoyed it all with the most won-derful sense of humor. He was special to all of us and a dear friend of mine. Mike transitioned with a smile on his face. It was an honor for our team to help Edie in honoring her beloved hus-band. We love you Edie and surround you with Light and love to help you heal.

There are many kinds of losses and members of Unity are true animal lovers. Our fur babies provide unconditional love and companion-ship. We grieve deeply when they leave us. I am pleased that we are not aware of any fur baby losses for this newsletter.

To those of you that we were unaware of any loss in your life we send our love and rays of sunshine to help you heal.

Love to all, Cookie Scott

Featuring Allan Rohlfs- Certified NVC TrainerNonviolent Communications is now recognized throughout the world as a premier means to sup-

port meaningful and open communications. It provides a means for one speaking to express them-selves more fully; and for the listener to understand the speaker more deeply.

This has been used in family settings, relationships, work settings, communities, global conflict situations. In Costa Rica, NVC practices are included in the curriculum for 5th grade elementary schools! Some recommendations:

• “My relationship with my husband is much improved. He’s a lawyer and I could never win an argument. I spoke to him in NVC and he listened to me!” — Clinical Social Worker

• “My 10 year old had a temper tantrum at the store. When I spoke NVC he stopped.”• “Your workshop aided our managers in improving their communication skills and provided a

structure whereby difficult interpersonal transactions can be handled routinely in a positive man-ner.” — President of a Chicago Bank

You are all invited to spend Saturday with us, getting a deeper understanding of how NVC is making the difference it is.

Charley brings his gifts of warmth, humor, presence, and ease to any gathering. He has been a favorite with Unity groups since the early '80s, when he took a leap of faith from his budding architecture career into touring full time with his spiritual concerts and workshops.

The biggest influences on Charley's spiritual path have been Unity, A Course In Miracles and seven years of touring with Alan Cohen's work-shops and retreats.

Charley has also been the musical opener for such other luminaries as Wayne Dyer, Mari-anne Williamson, Deepak Chopra, Ram Dass and Louise Hay. He has appeared on national televi-sion and radio with his songs, with such titles as You're an Angel, Take Your Power Back, and Dancers in the Light.

Something New and Exciting at Unity ChapelThere is a new program beginning at Unity Chapel. This has come on the heels of a symposium

I presented in the sanctuary in July entitled “Awakening The Dreamer” through the Pachamama Alliance (pachamama.org). The ultimate goal of the Pachamama Alliance and the symposium they created is to begin to align with their main purpose of “Creating an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence of the planet.” It would be wonderful for this statement to resonate with us so that we may be hopefully moved and inspired to develop it for us all here at Unity Chapel. Rev. Bill and I both feel this speaks directly to the heart of what we all strive for at Unity. The full roll out of this process will eventually go beyond just becoming envi-ronmentally sustainable but will by necessity also include addressing the spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence aspects of this goal as well.

On Sunday, October 1, nine people met to continue a dialogue about what we as a church com-munity can do towards making our chapel “greener.” We recognized and appreciated that this pro-cess has already begun when our congregants elected to install solar panels a few years ago. While this has been a wonderful and positive step, there is much that can still be done to continue moving in this worthwhile direction. This initial meeting was mostly a brainstorming session. We had some excellent sharing of ideas and enthusiasm from those present.

Here is summary of some of things discussed: • The first step of this plan will be to present it to the leadership of the Church at the next Board meeting. • This process will unfold gradually and definitely with input and feedback from our church community. • Education will be an important component for a successful implementation of the process. • Re-establishing a successful recycling system in Friendship Hall. • For us, a most agreed upon place to begin to implement this process is in Friendship Hall by gradually phasing out use of disposable plastics, Styrofoam and paper products.

As was previously mentioned, we envision that this plan will be phased in gradually. We also discussed having a name for the new team that will be formed to oversee this program. We are soliciting input from you on a snappy new name for the team. Please share your ideas or questions about any of this with Lucinda Moss, Judy Bjorklund, Lynda Hartman, Nancy Austin, Irene Barn-house, Pat McKevitt, Mary Jo Bradley, Rev. Bill, or Virginia Diaz (those of us present at the meeting).

Stay tuned for the announcement of our next meeting sometime in December.

Thank You! Virginia Diaz

The Earthquake and Myself in Mexico City By Gloria Bruning

As I was planning my vacation to see my family in Mexico City, I knew that Mexico was having very small earthquakes and also heavy rains. I thought that maybe I was not to go and maybe I should cancel my plane ticket, but the rain stopped for a while and my family told me that everything was fine. I Went to the post office to have my mail held for three weeks and the lady at the post office asked me, “Where is the beautiful place you are go-ing?” My answer was to a place where it rains a lot and they have earthquakes. Wow, she said, and I answered yes, because my family lives there and I will have a wonderful time with them.

I arrived on Sunday and my sister and her husband picked me up and brought me to their home (two days before the big earthquake hit the City and other parts of Mexico). I had many plans to fulfill in this trip, but the altitude of Mexico City affected me as never had before. My blood pressure was high and I went to see a doctor who prescribed me medi-cation. My sister took me to buy that medication.

As we are coming back home the stoplight held us under a bridge when we did feel a big vibration. We were thinking in that moment the big trucks made that, but the ground start-ed shaking up and down with such a horrible way and was not anywhere to move because at that time (1:14 pm) the traffic was very heavy. We observed the celling of the bridge think-ing if it started falling down we need to run out of the car. Fear was everywhere; I told my sister that everything would be Ok, even as I was shaking like a leaf in the wind. Finally, the traffic moved out that area and my sister parked on the curve of the street. The earthquake started moving the ground from the right to the left and then in circles. I started saying the Prayer of Protection that gives me such a peace knowing that God was there with my sister and I. People in the street where holding each other and crying or screaming, the children were in the streets; at that time, I ignored how much damage the City had, we lost power, for many hours, no phones or cellular worked. We could not communicate with the rest of the family until the next few days after the tremor.

Somehow my faith assured me that everybody was fine and there was a reason for me to be there in this tragic situation. Compassion, Love was the biggest feeling I had for the people who were affected the most. That night the sky had heavy rains and thunder and I prayed that God will stop that so people can be rescued promptly. I am glad God answered my prayers, because the rain stopped. The next day and evening only few drops of rain fell in the City.

I am grateful that I was there and found my family unhurt. I think God wants me here right now, because I can be at work doing something for Him. I will remember to live my life like I have only few minutes to enjoy it, with love, joy and Peace, because “I am as God cre-ated me.” Thank you God for being part of me.

Love and Blessings to all of you.Gloria Bruning
