STUDENT/PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

are scheduled for Friday, November 18.

Letters requesting your availability to meet with your child’s teacher were sent home with students on Friday, October 28, and are expected back to the school by Wednesday, November 2. Please return them

to your child’s homeroom teacher.

Staff will be meeting soon to schedule interview times. For those who have special requests for scheduling, please contact the teacher by phone or write a note as soon as possible. Efforts will be made

to ensure that families with 2 or more children will have conference times relatively close together. When schedules are complete, a note will be sent home to inform you of when your conference time is.

Report cards will be sent home prior to student/parent/teacher conferences to give you and your child an opportunity to reflect on its message and to think of questions or goals that may be discussed during your

visit. Your support, participation and continued communication regarding your child’s progress plays a very important role in assisting them in their progress.

***PLEASE REMEMBER INTERVIEWS ARE 20 MINUTES***

Roots of Empathy News

Our Roots of Empathy classrooms had an exciting time preparing for and meeting our baby, then

maximizing the learning. The children learned about temperaments. They made predictions

about what our baby could and could not do. The baby was weighted and measured, and the

students became aware that our baby has feelings that are expressed with her/his body. Ms.

Stewart’s, Ms. Clayton’s and Mrs. McCurry’s students enjoyed meeting baby Brynn, baby Fisher,

and baby Finlay. We looked forward to the next theme: Crying.

City of Brandon’s Waste Reduction Challenge

We are extremely proud of Mrs. Thompson's, Mrs. Fotheringham's, Mrs. Mitchell's and Mrs.

Stewart's classes. For 2 weeks they took part in the City of Brandon's Waste reduction

challenge. They recycled paper, juice boxes, cardboard and plastic. They learned about composting

and had a chance to see first hand where recyclables and garbage ends up when they toured the

City's Landfill. They made crafts out of recyclable materials and tried really hard to have

garbageless lunches.

Each class made a pledge to make sure they don't stop recycling.

Mrs. Mitchell's class pledged to "Collect Kool-Aid Jammers and donate them to COR Industries (they make "Kool" bags and wallets with them).

Ms. Fotheringham's grade 1/2 class is collecting

batteries for recycling. If you have any old

batteries, please ask send them to Room

19. Thank you!

We pledge to help the earth by cleaning our

playground, by making less garbage, by continuing to

compost and by collecting the paper recycling for the

whole school. We Love the Earth!

Written by students in Mrs. Thompson grade one and

two class.

Mrs. Stewart's class pledged to "Keep

recycling our juice boxes from lunch and to

make sure we recycle our old markers"

Hopefully the other classes will send in their

pledges to add to this article and a few

students can write about what they learned.
