Principal’s Report Staff Development Day
Day One Term 2 2017
The first day of this term staff participated in professional learning. Staff reviewed the Aboriginal Education Policy, Positive Behaviour for Learning and discussed school processes. Aunty Wendy spoke with staff regarding culture and working with all students. Uncle Wayne also shared personal stories about his growing up in the local area. Also this year staff are continuing their professional learning in literacy and numeracy. The Numeracy Building Blocks online modules staff are working on at home and after hours at school to increase their knowledge and skills in teaching all aspects of numeracy. This means the last two days of the school calendar year, 18 & 19 December 2017, which is normally dedicated to staff development days is
being made up throughout the year. The last day for students is Friday 15th December 2017, Term 4.
We have had a great start to Term 2! Thank you to
parents and students who attended and marched
at this year’s ANZAC Day service in Nowra. I was so
proud of our students who were well behaved and
showed respect. Nowra East PS was the best
school there! Also another thank you to our P&C
who provided chips and drinks for our students
after the ceremony.
Thank you to Ms Meehan and Nowra RSL Sub-
branch for making our ANZAC School Assembly so
special.
Our guests, Mr Paul Ell on behalf of Shelley
Hancock, Councillor Mitchell Pakes on behalf of
Mayor Amanda Finley, Leading Seaman Burns,
Seaman Summer-White from HMAS Albatross, Mr
Fred Campbell OAM and Mr Rick Meehan OAM
and students (Chris, Skylar, Aysha and Breanna)
shared very important messages about mateship,
respect and peace. Thank you to Mr Meehan and
Nowra RSL for donating books to our school
library. We will get lots of enjoyment from those
books. Congratulations to all classes for the lovely
art work that is displayed in our school hall.
A special congratulations to Thomas Jessop-Staggs
and Bryah Longbottom for winning the mateship
awards.
NEPS Got Talent & Spice Show was held
last term. The students raised over $500.00 which was a fantastic effort. Congratulations everyone who participated in the heats and the finals. Everyone was a winner!

Nowra East Community Neighbour Day in the Garden - 9 April After a great deal of rain it was great to have a beautiful day for our Neighbour Day get together in the community garden at Nowra East Public School on Sunday. During the course of the day nearly 80 members of the community dropped in for a chat and wander around the garden, free sausage sizzle, some few giveaways, some local organic produce, an information display by the Shoalhaven Beekeepers and a chance to pat the goats from Shoalhaven High School. It was good day to enjoy the garden and meet our neighbours, as well as visitors to the area. We are hoping to have more days for the community to come into the garden. We would like to thank the Salvation Army for helping us with the cooking the sausages donated by Shoalhaven Council, the Shoalhaven Beekeepers, Deb Hargraves and students from Shoalhaven High. We would also like to thank Nowra East Pride for organising the day. If you would like to become more involved in your community the Pride have a Facebook website for contact details and information about local events.
Thank you to Mr Stovin-Bradford for all his organisation and dedication. We are very lucky to have him!

YOUR CHILD'S HEALTH
A reminder to parents to notify the school about your child's health We welcome information from parents about your child's health, even if you are not requesting specific support from our school. Our school asks for medical information when you enrol your child. It is also important that you let us know if your child's health care needs change or if a new health condition develops. Information about allergies, medical conditions such as asthma and diabetes and other health care related issues (including prior conditions such as medical procedures in the last 12 months) should be provided to the school by parents. Please provide this information in writing to the principal. This will greatly assist our school in planning to support your child's health and wellbeing. Please also remember to notify staff in the school office of any changes to your contact details or to the contact details of other people nominated as emergency contacts. We appreciate your assistance in this regard and assure you that any information you provide the school will be stored securely and will only be used or disclosed in order to support your son or daughter's health needs or as otherwise required by law.
