FOUNDER’S BIO
Dr. James Hall, MPH, MD, PhD, Drs. Ph.
Dr. James Hall is highly respected and nationally renowned epidemiologist,
health advocate, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Hall
has often been called upon to assist with various local health issues related to
the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Former U.S. President William “Bill” Clinton
proudly bestowed the title of ‘U.S. Ambassador of HIV/AIDS’. Dr. Hall
traveled throughout the United States and abroad to discuss the globally
affected issues of HIV/AIDS, with both National and International leaders.
Soon after his appointment, Dr. Hall became the first African American to
conduct a conference on sex education for youth (HIV/AIDS and STD’s) of
the families, stationed at various U.S. Armed forces (FORSCOM) installations.
Additionally, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus honored him when he discovered enzyme formulations
(HR508 and SR644), which have been proven to produce significant improvements in the health of patients on
two continents. Dr. Hall’s complete product line of alternative and complementary medicinal products have
received full registration and licensure from NAFDAC, based on their safety and effectiveness in reducing
internal and digestive toxicities, that otherwise promote unhealthy reactions in the human body.
In 1995, Dr. Hall found himself in the midst of International headlines when he led nine other American
delegates on a Christian mission of goodwill to Orissa, India (now Odisha). His small American entourage was
scheduled to tour the area and meet and speak with some of the country’s more prominent educators and
healthcare professionals. Due to a series of government-related miscommunications about the purpose of their
visit, and the civil unrest of the political climate at the time, Dr. Hall and his entire group were held hostage by
rebel forces for a period of several days. As a result, the U.S. State Department and other government officials
had to negotiate Dr. Hall’s release and safe return to the United States.
Dr. Hall returned to India in 1998, where he became the first African American delegate representing the U.S.
to meet with (the late) Mother Teresa to discuss the effects of the AIDS pandemic in her country. He also has
travelled extensively throughout Africa. He met with various
governmental officials to assist them in combating the high-incidence of
HIV/AIDS that had become the leading cause of death in the continent.
Dr. Hall also has met with such dignitaries as Dr. Gloria Abiola—wife to
the late and former President, Chief M.K.O. Abiola as well as Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the Republic of Nigeria. In later years,
he met with the late Honorable Nelson Mandela who had invited him to
meet and consult him.
Dr. Hall attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Ga. where he completed his undergraduate studies as well
as his graduate and doctorate studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C. with honors from its School of
Medicine. Dr. Hall also was a lecturer at the University of Nigeria at Lagos and the University of Natal in
Durban, South Africa. In 2004, Hall added to his long list of public service awards and recognition when he
received the Dr. Louis W. Sullivan Award, presented to him from H.E.L.P. for Black Males Health, Africana
Studies Dept. of the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Dr. Hall currently serves as Founder/Chairman of
National Prostate Awareness Association, Inc., a Georgia 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization.
Prostate Cancer Facts
Between 2006 and 2010, Prostate Cancer was the leading cause of death in Georgia.
At the same time, the incident rates for non-Hispanic blacks is 219.8, compared to 133.2 for non-
Hispanic whites, and the death rates nearly twice as high for blacks – 49.8 versus 20.7 for whites.
Fulton and DeKalb counties rank in the Top 10 of Georgia counties with the highest average annual
incidents of prostate cancer between 2008 - 2012 for all races, according to the National Cancer
Institute.
African American and Hispanics also rank in the top 10 in this category.
In Georgia and the U.S., non-Hispanic black males are more likely to be diagnosed with prostate
cancer than non-Hispanic.
Similarly, black males are more likely than white males to die of prostate cancer in both Georgia
and the U.S. In Georgia, this difference is threefold.
Non-Hispanic black males in Georgia are 17% more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer
than non-Hispanic black males in the U.S. (age-adjusted rate 262/100,000 vs. 223/100,000).
Hispanic males in the U.S. are almost 29% more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than
Hispanic males in Georgia (age-adjusted rate 125/100,000 vs. 97/100,000).
Rate for blacks has risen to 98% for those diagnosed with cancer in the 2004-2011-time period, up
from 61% from 1975-77 Trends in 5-year Relative Survival Rates* (%) by Race, US, 1975-2010 –

NPAA Initiative Goal
Overall, prostate cancer promotional presence is quite extensive. However, the goal of the National
Prostate Awareness Association, Inc. is to develop and drive a message, citing how this disease is
affecting the under-served & under insured African American males and other men of color in an
alarming way.
Dr. James Hall, a recognized medical expert in this specific area and the founder of the NPAA,
acknowledges that men of color are extremely challenged by this disease. He realizes that an aggressive
approach to controlling this health issue must be implemented with urgent expediency. He insists that
we need a strong program specifically designed to address this important prostate cancer health problem
to greatly reduce the number of men of color and their families from experiencing a catastrophic
outcome.
The National Institutes of Health has had an on-going campaign to raise awareness about prostate
cancer. The goal of NPAA is to capitalize on these efforts, particularly in light of how this health crisis
impacts males of color; the under-served and the under-insured. The approach taken by NPAA is to
curb this health crisis with a serious commitment to awareness, testing and prevention.
Based on the enormity of what is required to establish an effective foundation to address this health
issue needs the financial resources to achieve its goals. The NPAA is setting out to raise a minimum of
$167,000 to launch this operation. Our belief is that there needs to be a more aggressive and expanded
effort to ensure that all men of are 1) increasingly aware of the dangers of this disease; 2) that they get
tested and screened in hopes of reducing the number of incidents.
The approach will require changing the mindset and dynamics of those most affected in these targeted
communities. The intent of this program is to take this initiative to the communities of the people most
affected. This will require obtaining transportation (Health System on Wheels); major funding efforts;
Staffing; entertainment/sports personality endorsements; just to name a few.
The hope is to pull together all the community related support to acquire a vehicle, staff and funding
via in-kind and/or financial donations. The NPAA will first address a local and regional perspective
with the intent of securing a structural financial platform that will eventually become “mobile”. This
means we will be able to replicate the successes in other communities around Georgia and the country.

Brand Activation Strategy
Overview The National Prostate Awareness Association has begun project branding by engaging all parts of our community. The NPAA will begin with a simple, low-cost grassroots campaign in neighborhoods throughout Atlanta and surrounding counties where our strategic partners will help us raise money by donating to this effort using symbolic Blue Pails emblazoned with our logo. We need to kick off a Check It! & Correct It! Blue Pail Campaign with a specific monetary goal that will 1) builds off existing relationships; 2) costs very little to launch; and, 3) creates a grassroots campaign that begins to provide solid proof of efforts to raise awareness about this chronic disease.
Campaign Goals
Increase awareness through all forms of media (print, TV, radio, Internet and social media) about prostate
cancer and need for men to get tested
Host events throughout the community for men to get blood pressure and prostate cancer tests
Purchase and convert two RVs to mobile testing units that would travel initially throughout the Atlanta
Metroplex (DeKalb/Fulton/Cobb counties) conducting testing and distributing fliers, brochures and other
materials to raise awareness.

Host a VIP reception with light dinner and entertainment with national talent
Hold the Auto and/or Bike Show in May, June and July to kick off some of the activities for the campaign.
Host the Check It! & Correct It! Grand Slam Kickball tournament ft. the International Adult & Athletic Kickballers’
Association (IAAKA).
Conduct blood pressure check and prostate screening exams with our partners – Atlanta Urology and Well Star
Health System aboard the community health mobile the Check It! & Correct It! Blue Cheetah
Promote the event through our partnership with K104 KISS FM. Produce entertainment/sports personality
commercials & PSA’s
Promote/brand NPAA by getting our partners at the National African-American Association of RVers
(NAARVA.org) to support our efforts to purchase a wrapped RV & promoting the Blue Pail Campaign. The RV
would appear at NPAA special events and serve the community as a mobile testing site. The RV will be manned
by the Atlanta Urology & Well Star Health System Partners.
Engage firefighters, major churches, barbershops, local business groups, celebrities, sports figure; as well as
other civic/social minded organizations to host “Check It! & Correct It! Blue Pail” Fundraisers.
Encourage all participants to post pictures of their Check It! & Correct It! Blue Pail Campaigns on Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, and Periscope to help us generate a buzz.
Promote fundraising success with a thermometer on the NatlMPCA.org website showing our progress.
Promote online fundraising by relaunching online donations at NatlMPCA.org
Promote a short video on how to set up your Kroger Rewards Card to donate to National Minority Prostate
Cancer Association.
