    Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational

    corporation headquartered in Redmond, Washington thatdevelops, manufactures, licenses and supports a wide range ofproducts and services related to computing. The company wasfounded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen on April 4, 1975. Microsoft isthe world's largest software maker measured by revenues.It isalso one of the world's most valuable companies.

    Each color represents a major product of the company:-

    BLUE for Windows (hence the Windows 8 logo),

    GREEN for Xbox,

    RED for Office,

    Microsoft CEO says Windows 8 sales rate higher than

    Windows 7 Company's new Windows 8 O.S, released to the public on

    Friday, were running at a higher rate than its last release,Windows 7."Windows 7 is the best-selling version of Windows so far,selling more than 670 million licenses in three years sincerelease in 2009.

    But presently According to Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrot itswas found Windows 8 not met its internal sales expectation.

    Product Development & Test Marketing

    User experience teams will test prototyped products with

    sample user groups. They will also contribute to the design

    process at earlier and later stages through ongoing testing

    of existing products and long term beta test programs with

    expert users. User experience teams across Microsoft will

    also be closely involved with new target markets, helping

    to determine the characteristics of particular new user

    groups, and assessing the impact of existing and proposed

    products in that context.

    Commercialization

    In June 2011, Windows 8 was previewed for the first time inTaipei. A Developer Preview was released on September 13of that year, which was replaced by a Consumer Preview onFebruary 29, 2012.

    On May 31, 2012, Microsoft released the Release Previewversion of its next generation Windows 8 software.

    On October 26, 2012 Microsoft launched Windows 8

    The Windows 8 logo will be significantly updated to reflectthe new Metro design language. The logo was designedby Pentagram partner Paula Scher.

    Win. 7 Vs Win. 8

    Windows 8 is a totally new version of Windows that, inaddition to the traditional desktop, also includes a new-style interface for use with touchscreens - whetherthat's on a touchscreen laptop, all-in-one PC or tablet.

    And, while not all PCs will be touchscreen when

    Windows 8 launches, expect more and more devices tohave touchscreens towards the new year - even if it's atraditional laptop.

    Windows 7 was a big hit for Microsoft, turning thingsaround from the troublesome Windows Vista andreminding people that the Redmond giant was not quiteready to hang up its hat just yet.

    Microsoft Start screen features the same kind of live tilesand data as Windows Phone's home screen have. The StartScreen can be used as an application launcher for desktopapps, or Win. 8 Modern UI apps.

    Better multiple monitor support

    Now Win. 8 has Multiple Monitor Support feature thatmeans you can now have the Start Screen on one monitor

    and the desktop in another, or choose to have the Windows8 Desktop and taskbar on both screens.You can also put adifferent background on each screen if you have multiplemonitors. Windows 8 also enables you to split screenbetween Modern UI i.e Windows 8 charms apps.

    Windows 8 Search and Social

    With the Start menu gone, search is available not onlythrough the Search charm but also through the Start Screen

    - just start typing and the results on screen are forprograms and files.

    As for social, WIndows 8 supports Facebook, LinkedIn andTwitter natively, so you can browse social updates withinthe People app and elsewhere.

    Windows 8 ARM support

    British company ARM's Chip designs are being used in agrowing number of devices. The version of Windows 8 used

    on ARM microprocessor-based devices is actually referredto as Windows RT. ARM Stands for- Advanced RISC Machines( RISC is a system stands for Reduced Instruction SetComputing )

    Windows Store

    Microsoft's Windows Store is a key part of Windows 8,offering both desktop and Modern UI apps, both free andpaid. You can search the Store using the Search charm, aswell as browse through the top free or top paid apps as

    well as look through apps by category.

    Windows 8 cloud integration

    Win. 8 supports Cloud Integration i.e. potential to sync data toSkyDrive - there's a SkyDrive app as well as the ability to save

    data to and from your Cloud Storage.

    Internet Explorer 10

    Windows 8 ships with I.E.10, which can run as either a desktopprogram or, as an app with a new full-screen interfaceoptimized for use on touchscreens. Internet Explorer 10 alsocontains an integrated version of Flash Player, which will be

    available in full on the desktop.
