Unlike straight UN screw threads, taper pipe threads have a much higher volume of chip removal in the tapping process, especially when the pre-tapped hole is only straight-drilled without taper reaming. The high level of metal removal with taper pipe threads often causes pre-mature failure of conventional pipe taps due to severe chipping of the cutting teeth or total breakage due to chip clogging. Emuge NPT / NPTF Taps significantly improve chip flow, produce longer tap life, provide better thread finish and gaging, and higher production rates due to less machine downtime.

Emuge NPT / NPTF Taps are available in two overall lengths. The standard ANSI length, and the longer DIN length which allows for additional reach and chip clearance. Taps are offered in bright finish for wrought aluminum materials, and TiN coated for steel materials. TiCN coating is available upon request.

Featuring a newly developed flute form with variable skip tooth geometry. The advanced flute design optimizes chip flow and clearance and lowers tapping torque – ideal for materials that produce long, stringy chip formations such as aluminum, carbon steels, stainless and mold steels.
