NSAA Mission

• By stressing the educational values of leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play, the Nebraska School Activities Association and its member schools shall develop policies and procedures to regulate and promote interscholastic activities of the highest quality for its fans, coaches, officials and participants.

NSAA History

• The Nebraska School Activities Association is a voluntary, not-for-profit corporation of the public and non-public high schools in Nebraska.

• Currently 310 (3) Member Schools

• Over 125,000 Student Participants

NSAA History

• In 1898, the concept of a state-wide activities organization was first developed by high school administrators.

• In 1910, the Nebraska High School Athletic Association was organized.

• In 1935, the membership voted to place all interschool activities under the control of the Association, and the name was changed to Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA).

Legislative Process

• Six NSAA Legislative Districts

• District Managing Committee (Board Member, Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary)

• One representative per district on NSAA Board of Directors with Districts 1 & 2 having an additional representative due to population

Legislative Process• Schools submit proposals to November District

Meetings • Simple majority to pass a proposal.• Proposal sent to all six districts for consideration

at January District Meetings.• Passes three districts, proposal moves to April

Board of Directors & Representative Assembly.• Approved Rulings from Activity Manuals voted

on by the Board of Directors.• Proposals dealing with NSAA Constitution &

Bylaws go to Representative Assembly.
