“Nuclear energy today is all about innovation and openness to digital technologies, to robotics, and re-imagine how we maintain existing nuclear facilities and develop new nuclear solutions to meet modern energy demands. We are building on our historic knowledges with new tech-nologies to ensure that nuclear continues to be a safe, clean, efficient and competitive energy source.“
“We believe new possibilities given by available digital technologies improve the competitiveness of the ser-vices offered, the project delivery performance and the ability to achieve an optimal solution in the ambient complexity.
In Europe, Asia and the Middle East, we are developing long-term local employment, encouraging the emer-gence of in-house talent by promoting competence, commitment, loyalty, a sense of common interest and customer satisfaction.“
“To meet the targets of the Paris climate change accord, when energy demands continue to increase, is a significant challenge. At Assystem, we believe that relying on decarbo-nized sources of electricity production will be vital. In this context, nuclear has to be part of the solution as one of the only ways to produce decarbonized electricity at a competi-tive price and on a large scale. We are fighting for what we believe in – that nuclear, combined with other carbon-free energy sources, is vital for the energy transition and combat-ting climate change. We are working day in, day out, around the world to develop this energy, helping to make the nuclear programmes we are involved in highly efficient, cost effec-tive, and safe.“

Assystem is an international and independent engineering company, foun-
ded in France in 1966 to commission nuclear facilities, now with a global
portfolio. We are:
Assystem has more than 50 years’ experiencein the nuclear sector We work alongside governments, operators, and contracting authorities and technolo-gy suppliers, to manage, design, support construction and commissioning to improve performance or dismantle nuclear installations for commercial purposes (PWR, BWR, SMR, F(B)R, etc.), research applications (particle accelerators, production of isotopes, or fusion) or for fuel and waste.
Assystem holds several positions across the lifecycle of a nuclear project such as Owner En-gineer, Architect Engineer, Engineering of Choice and Dismantling & Waste engineer.

We support the Owners for the management of their (New Build) programmes in compliance with AIEA guidance, from the environ-mental social impact assessment to the technology licensing so as to ensure effective monitoring of the project strategy and require-ments.On behalf of the Owner, we also act as an independent Design Au-thority.
As Engineer of Choice we support the operator in successfully ensu-ring safe evaluation and imple-mentation of modifications and maintenance activities. Based on our deep knowledge of the plant design and our engineering ca-pacity plus nuclear expertise, we offer modifications and life-time extension studies. On each nuclear plant we propose main-tenance planning and support to outage performance and project management.
On behalf of Owner, we deliver In-dependent Engineering Services for the technical development of its new build project: design work packages, project control ser-vices, construction management and commissioning.
We work alongside Operators throughout the end of life of their nuclear assets in all engineering aspects, ranging from the defini-tion of dismantling scenarios to the management of the low to in-termediate nuclear waste.

Digitising lies in the convergence between business and data. It is all about switching from a document to a data-based ap-proach which connects the technical and the commercial dimension of projects and knowledge. It does this by drawing on sys-tems engineering and automation business processes to clearly identify project needs and their impact on the design, build, ope-rational and decommissioning phases.”

OURREFERENCES
Complex projects feature intensive capital expenditure, numerous functionalities and in-terfaces, in compelling regulatory environment, encompassing a wide range of disciplines and technologies. Significant delays and costs deviations in the delivery of the project question the relevance of the project from society, government or investors.
Over the past years, ASSYSTEM has engaged a very pragmatic digital transformation initia-tive, “Engineering Powered By Digital” articulated around the document to data transforma-tion and the system modelling and simulation. It is organized around four lines of services :
1 Digital field services,
2 Industrial data science services,
3 Project control services,
4 System Engineering services.
Designed to speed the time-to-value of our customers’ projects, the ASSYSTEM’s digital transformation offering combines the agility of a structure dedicated to digital with the business knowledge and expertise of the company in its sectors and oriented «customer solutions» rather than «software solutions».
The development of our activities and the increasing demands from customers and regu-lators has led Assystem to engage in a proactive policy of nuclear risk management. This policy complements the company’s continuous improvement approach, already signifi-cantly developed in the areas of quality assurance, in health and safety, and in environ-mental protection.
Our nuclear quality commitment
Assystem considers quality as a performance lever and is committed to guaranteeing qua-lity through its delivery for customers, stakeholders and the nuclear communities.Considering constraints of international operators and feedback from the nuclear supply chain, Assystem plans to implement a management system following ISO 19443 standard requirements, based on GS-R-AIEA requirements, lessons learned from worldwide nuclear operators and industrials, and complying with internationally recognized best practices (e.g NQA-1 ..) by 2021.
Assystem has chosen to operate its services according to the highest stan-dards regarding quality and nuclear safety“

Nuclear safety remains central to the engineering process, as the requirements brought by nuclear safety analysis have an impact on all the disciplines at stake in a nuclear facility. In this context, Assystem nuclear safety experts play a key role in all the nuclear projects. Our approach to nuclear safety extends worldwide, in particular to countries developing new nuclear power plant programs.
giving the priority to nuclear safety as a paramount issue for the company
promoting development of a common nuclear safety culture
ensuring strong management involvement, focused on rigour, checking, and vigilance
developing a continuous improvement culture
Assystem is committed to sharing its knowledge, in particular with the next generation. The Group maintains a strong relationship with
engineering schools, to raise awareness among young talent, and to
co-build nuclear training programs in the nuclear environment, both
in France and abroad. Over the last two years, our internal training
center, the “ANI” spent 10 000 hours training 650 younger collea-
gues who will address the technology challenges and the digital re-
volution of the coming decades.
