ABOUT NIRMA UNIVERSITY

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Nirma University International Conference on Engineering, NUiCONE is a flagship event of the Institute of Technology,

Nirma University, Ahmedabad. This conference follows successful organization of four national conferences and four

international conferences in previous years. Last conference of this series - NUiCONE-2013 - was very successful with more

than 750 research papers submitted, out of which approx. 200 papers were selected and presented after the rigorous

reviews including plagiarism checks and blind-fold technical reviews by multiple reviewers. The expert speakers and

conference delegates were from all across India and abroad covering researchers and eminent experts from academia,

industry such as GE, Mitsubishi, ATE India, Linde etc ,and government R&D organizations like IPR, ISRO, PRL and BISAG.

Upcoming NUiCONE-2015 is being planned with major interesting changes in the mode of events/themes to make it like a

multi-conference with many inter-disciplinary technical themes encompassing and enabling researchers from broad range

of disciplines. Besides, NUiCONE-2015 will also have exciting new set of events specially to enable and attract increased

participation by practicing engineers, technologists and technopreneurs from industry through special knowledge sharing

sessions involving applied technical papers by industry participants based on case-study applications, white-papers, panel

discussions, industrial exhibitions of innovations and technology products etc.

Also several eminent speakers from India and abroad will be invited to deliver plenary and keynote addresses during the

conference

CALL FOR PAPERWHO: Faculty-members from academia, practicing professionals and researchers from industry and government

organizations, and MTech/PhD scholars from any branches of engineering, applied mathematics and humanity from across

the globe are invited to submit

WHAT: Their research papers, innovative application case-study, technical white-papers, and innovative industrial

solutions addressing to solve various industrial, societal and environment challenges of global and national importance.

Authors can submit their paper in one of the suitable interdisciplinary themes and topics listed below. Any other relevant

topics fitting into any of these interdisciplinary themes are also allowed.

HOW:

• The format of the paper is available on conference website: http://www.nuicone.org.

• Soft copies of the papers in specified format should be uploaded on the conference website.

• For the final selection, all the papers will be reviewed and scrutinized by a Technical Committee comprising of subject

experts after plagiarism checks for the originality of paper.

• Along with the final submission of the selected paper, authors are required to submit an undertaking form which implies

that, the paper has not been published previously, is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and if accepted

it will not be published elsewhere in the same form.

• A poster session will also be organized. Guidelines for posters will be available on conference website. The abstract of

the poster presentations will be included only in the souvenir of the NUiCONE-2015.

• One of the authors must register for the conference and present the paper, otherwise the paper will not be published in

the conference souvenir and proceedings.

• Research papers related to theme numbers from 1 to 13 will be recommended to IEEE Conference Publication Program

(CPP) to include it on the IEEEXplore subject to strictly meeting and complying with IEEE guidelines and signing of IEEE

copy-right transfer form.

• Research papers related to theme numbers from 14 to 20 will be recommended to CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group to

include it online on CRCnet BASE subject to final review and approval by the publisher.

• Technical white papers by industry professional will be published in conference proceeding of NUiCONE.

Contributions based on design and development, simulation, application, testing, verification and measurement in the

areas of analog and digital VLSI Design, testing and verification, system on chips, power and energy aware designs are

invited.

Contributions based on theoretical analysis, simulation and application in the areas of Image, speech, text and video

processing are invited.

Research in the Mathematics is a key element for the advancement of all areas of science and technology. Being a vital

area of science in itself, Pure and Applied mathematics are working in tandem in all the domains of engineering and

technology more so research areas like mathematical modeling of industrial processes. Need of the hour is to cultivate

and sustain core research capability, and at the same time cross the borders to promote transformative and inter-

disciplinary research.

Crossing the borders open minds. Engineering education is undergoing a period which is most transformative and

revolutionary in nature. The practitioners and researchers are crossing the borders and trying to bring diverse tools

into their classrooms to learn-teach. The conference will be an attempt to bring educationist, practitioner and

researcher to discourse and discuss about the emerging practices in learning and teaching. Papers are invited under

Planning and Management of infrastructure projects related to Transportation, Energy, Water management, Solid waste

This theme focuses on new process design and development where it can suggest substantial alteration in equipment

or process design or developing new catalyst or employing novel techniques like use of ultrasound or microwave,

micro or nano technology.

Quest for the development of new alternative technologies is never ending process, so this theme will provide platform

for research related to various environmentally benign technologies to solve the current problems such as, treatment

of effluents, environmental management, recovery & reuse of materials and other issues related to environmental

problems.

Researchers from industry and academia are invited to present their research work in the following areas.

Process Modelling, Simulation, Instrumentation, Control, and Optimization, Fault Detection and Diagnosis. Research on

contemporary issues related to process industries are invited under this theme.

Robot Dynamics, Control Algorithms, Vision based Control, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation. Apart from above

mentioned topics, challenges and solutions of factory automations are also expected under this theme.

Smart grid, WAMS, grid challenges, grid stability and restructuring, grid optimization, transmission planning and

design, distributed generation – reliability and grid security, new frontiers in fault detection and mitigation,

developments in switchgear and relaying, artificial intelligence applications in power systems, issues and development

in high voltage and insulation engineering.

Control strategies in power electronic systems, technological advances in converters, UPS, SMPS, topology

enhancements and changes, multi-level converters for high power applications, passive and active filter – design and

implementation, improvements in drive controls, DSP applications in power electronics, HVDC transmission and FACTS,

power quality issues and their mitigation techniques

Sustainable manufacturing seeks to profitably produce goods while minimizing a firm’s environmental impact, natural

resource use, and energy consumption. Under this theme, the research work related to methodologies, manufacturing

processes and materials that contribute to sustainable manufacturing processes is invited.

Design and analysis of machines and mechanisms is the key for reduction of lead times from concept stage to detailed

design stage. The static and dynamic analysis to ensure the functionality, safety and reliability of systems made up of

different kinds of materials is backbone of successful machine design and development. The theme aims to invite

original work in the area of computational methods, experimental work and analytical solutions for design and analysis

of machines and mechanisms.

Energy is the "Energy" for growth and development. The objective of Energy Management and Conservation is to

achieve and maintain optimum energy procurement and utilization to minimize energy costs / waste without affecting

production, comfort and quality. The articles invited under this theme are expected to be in the area of production,

utilization and conservation of energy.

We received total 573 research papers from India and few from across the border. With aview of establishing the credibility and quality of original research, papers were checked forplagisrism. The technical committee of conference had invited very reputed personalities ofthe relevant field to review the papers. The criteria decided for paper selection includescontent, relevance with current trends, format, quality of figures/charts, quality of tablesand equations, citation of references and among all, the most important is specificcontribution towards theory development/ experimental verification/ practical application.After stringent and rigorous double blind review process, we have selected 171 researchpapers and finally 136 papers are registered for the conference keeping merely 30%acceptance ratio. Out of this 71 will be published with Taylor and Francis and 65 will be

published by IEEE. 146 authors have done their registrations. Authors from various statesand different organisations like,CSIR,ISRO,IPR , IIT and NIT’s are going to present theirpapers.

Pre-conference tutorial sessions are arranged for delegates on 25thNovember, 2015.Total 6tutorials are arranged with 2 external speaker (SVNIT and IIT roorkee) and around 80participants are going to attend these tutorials.Eminent scientists/Industrialist renowned globally have given their consent for sharing thedais during inaugural function scheduled on 26thNovember, 2015. The details are as follows:

· Shri Hirenbhai Patel MD, Nirma Ltd, is president of Inaugural function.

· Padmashri Dr. Vijay Bhatkar has given his consent to be the Chief Guest at theinaugural function. He is best known as the architect of India's first supercomputer and asthe founder Executive Director of C-DAC, India's national initiative in supercomputing.

· Padmashri Dr. Avinash Chander has given his consent for delivering the keynoteaddress at the inaugural function. He is Scientist and the Scientific Advisor to the DefenceMinister and was the Director General of Defence Research and Development Organization(DRDO). He is former Secretary of Department of Defence Research and Development.
