Southcentral Foundation Nuka System of Care

“A health care system owned and managed by Alaska’s Native people has achieved astonishing results in improving the health of its enrollees while cutting the costs of treating them.”

Southcentral Foundation’s Nuka System of Care is the whole health care system created, managed, and owned by Alaska Native people to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness.

The relationship-based Nuka System of Care is comprised of the following integrated parts working together – in relationship – to support wellness: organizational strategies and processes; medical, behavioral, dental, and traditional practices; and supporting infrastructure.

Southcentral Foundation (SCF) is seeking further collaboration/funding for the following corporate objectives: reducing the rates of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, cancer, incidences of suicide, obesity, substance abuse, diabetes, oral health, and cardiovascular disease.

Goal: Establish an institution to provide the leadership and means to transform health care into an effective, efficient, and safe system whose impact on population health is commensurate with expenditures. We are also seeking collaboration and funding to further develop the Nuka Institute for learning and innovation.
