‘AAP plans to clarify role of Nurse Practitioners’

The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) opposes the independent practice of Nurse Practitioners. AAP chapter leaders argued that the language in

the Addendum to the Joint principles of the Patient-Centered Medical Home could be

interpreted to mean that those supporting the policy also supported nurse practitioners right to

operate independent practices.

• After Researching this profession, I have decided that it would be too much responsibility for me to handle, and allot of paperwork to do for each patient.

• I would get overwhelmed with work easily and wouldn’t have enough time to relax or be with my family. Overall, it doesn’t sound like a great job.
