Inglewood Community Nursery and Infant School
Home learning We hope that you have all managed to enjoy some family time in the sunshine this
past week. We have loved looking at the photographs that you have sent us, and we
can see the progress you are making (and the growing you are all doing!).
Many of you have been bakers, scientists, mathematicians, artists, writers,
explorers, designers and gardeners! It is so lovely to see all the wonderful things
you do at home. So a big thank you to parents for keeping us updated.
This week we have looked at your interests through your photographs and linked
these to some of the activities. The story we would like you to look at this week is
Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. Here is a link: https://youtu.be/rudDGRQ9QGA
If you have any questions our email is [email protected]
Ask someone at home to read or show you the story
‘Dear Zoo’. After reading can you talk
about your favourite part of the story? Do you have a pet at home? If so please send us a photograph of your pet.
We have loved seeing some of your story maps so far!
Can you create one for ‘Dear Zoo’? Try
changing the animals to create your own version.
LET’S EXPLORE… Can you choose one animal in the story: elephant, camel, frog giraffe, monkey, lion, snake or a dog. Ask a
grown-up to help you use the internet to find out facts about your chosen animal. Where do they live?
What do they eat? etc
Please complete the
challenges and
share them with us
on the new Evidence
Me app.
Can you recognise and write the sounds
s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, c a, o. Our new sound this week is
‘r’ Can you find a paintbrush or stick and use water to write
the letters above on the ground outside. Blend some together to write words too.
Can you remember the Boogie Beebies dance
routines some you loved to do at nursery?.Have a go
at the ‘Hey Monkey’ routine. Use this link to
find it: https://youtu.be/BeqFYxfDtio
Many of the animals in the story are different sizes and weights. Can you talk about those that are heavier and lighter and order them by
size? Can you find 5 things in your house that are heavy
and 5 that are light?
. Make a sound flap book. Use animal
pictures under a flap with the animal sound
written on the flap. Who is in the zoo?
Grrrrrr (lion), sssssss (snake), rrrrrr (tiger)
LET’S CREATE… We know how much you love being creative. This week can you try one (or
more!) of the craft activities shown on the next page. Don’t forget
to send us a photograph of your creations.
BE CREATIVE….
Try some of these activities this week at home. Take a photo of your finished creation and share them
with us as we would love to see them!
We would love to see your animal drawings too!
Use a fork to
create you own
animal face!
Can you make a
paper plate
animal mask?
Turn your hand-
print into an
animal design!
Use a kitchen
or toilet roll
tube to make
a 3d animal.
