NURSING APPLICATION CHECKLIST
Before submitting your Nursing Program Application, please be sure ALL the documentation listed below is included. Application period is January 1 – March 1 for admission beginning in the fall 2018.
Submit an admission application to West Shore Community College available on line @
https://my.westshore.edu/ICS/Admissions/1
Eligibility for Math 120 as evidenced by (one of the following) MTH 051/MTH 098 with a C (2.0) or better; MTH 120 with a C (2.0) or higher or transfer equivalent; Appropriate placement test scores within the last five (5) years.
Eligibility for ENG 111 as evidenced by
English Comp I with a C (2.0) or better or equivalent transfer credit; Appropriate placement test scores within the last five (5) years.
Submit ANY and ALL OFFICIAL high school and college transcript(s) to Student Services.
Address: West Shore Community College 3000 N. Stiles Road, Scottville, MI 49454.
GPA calculation sheet required with a WSCC advisor’s signature if more than one college was attended. Calculation sheet available from an advisor.
Must have a minimum overall GPA of a 2.5 or better in coursework prior to making application.

Submit the Nursing Application Form, and all necessary documentation, to Student Services.
Attach proof of Completed HESI test. Must score a 75 or higher. May only take the test twice.
Take the Medical Math Test: Must score 100% (three tries/application year allowed). Letter of proof of passage must be submitted with your application. Letters can be obtained through the Nursing Department if original was not retained. Passage of the Medical Math Test is good for two years. We offer a Medical Math review online, through Canvas, and it is free of charge. If interested, please contact Wanell Cabot (231) 843-5818, [email protected] for details.
Attach, if pertinent, verification of direct care (employment) within the past 3 years. For example, a letter from
an employer on agency letterhead indicating employment dates and job responsibilities.
Attach signed criminal background disclosure form.
Attach completed point sheet and any certifications. Please Note: While the total points for entrance into the Nursing Program changes each year, the students accepted in the Fall 2017 Nursing Program had point scores of 37 and above. Achieving this score does not guarantee admission into the Nursing Program, but does act as a guide for those applying. Student Services will accept only completed packets. If any of the above items are missing, the application may be considered incomplete and will not be considered for acceptance. COLLEGE PLACEMENT and HESI tests & scores can be retrieved in the Testing Center (231.843.5528). Picture ID must be presented.
Important Notes
To All WSCC 1st Level Nursing Applicants
Thank you for considering the West Shore Community College Nursing Program. As
you consider making application to the program, we would like you to know we care about
our students and support them in their journey to be an excellent nurse. If accepted, you
would be joining a program with a rich heritage of nursing graduates since 1982.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the WSCC Admissions Office is in
receipt of all required admissions documentation.
1. You must have an Application for Admission to West Shore Community
College on file to be considered for admission to the Nursing Program.
2. If you are interested in the Academic Progression Program (BSN) please
make an appointment today with student services for advising at
231.843.5510 or call the nursing office at 231.843.5818 – space is limited.
3. All students applying for the WSCC Nursing Program, must submit an
application packet yearly between January 1st and March 1st. Only
completed application packets will be considered. Please refer to the
Nursing application check list for pertinent information.
4. Your high school or GED transcripts must be on file with the WSCC
Admissions Office prior to action being taken on your application. Be sure
your high school transcript is complete, showing all eight semesters.
5. You must have official copies of any and all post-secondary education
transcripts forwarded to the WSCC Admissions Office prior to action being
taken on your application.
6. HESI Test: To schedule your HESI test, please contact the Learning and Testing Center at: 231.843.5528 or email: [email protected]. The cost of this test is $62 and can only be taken twice.
7. Medical Math Test: You must score 100% and submit your “letter of proof” with your application packet. You are allowed three chances to achieve your 100% per year. To schedule your Medical Math Test, please contact the Learning and Testing Center at: 231.843.5528. Passage of the Medical Math Test is good for two years. Success letters can be picked up at the Nursing Department located in the Technical Center. Please call ahead to Wanell Cabot, 231.843.5818 to ensure your letter is ready for pickup.
