8 Activities
8.1 Current Activities
Astronomy Night is an interactive event that intends to develop interest
regarding astronomy and visualize the celestial bodies and space surrounding us.
It offers session in collaboration with astronomy societies where participants can
see the stars and planets via lens of the telescope. The event proves to be a
great opportunity for inquisitive minds and their questions about space
exploration and the strange phenomena that prevail in this vast universe of ours.
TechTalk is a regular feature which includes guest speaker session (s)
by motivated engineers, young scientists and researchers in a scientific
field of interest. Science Society aims to focus not just the elementary
subjects and fields but also encompasses the much neglected and
classified dimensions of scientific horizon. Society has also included
student-industry interactions on this canvas to promote the understanding of applied dimensions of
work.
Meet the Scientist is a bi-yearly event series that provides vistas into the
lives of infinitely erudite Pakistani intellectualists, who have strived for
knowledge with their lives. It is a unique opportunity for young students to
gain knowledge from such worthy scholars who have devoted their life to
science, as it puts an interesting spin on conventional education techniques
as it tries to make students realize what challenges they are to meet in the real world.
Sytek is an annual Intra NUST Science Olympiad. It aims to infuse a touch of creativity and nurture
the young talents of Pakistan in a setting that challenged them to think
outside the box. The competitions test both tested both the scientific
standing and innovation of the participants; while providing them an
opportunity to interact and socialize. General competitions includes
designing structures, strategy based quests, quizzes etc.

8.2 Future Plans
Industrial Expo, as the name suggests is a platform where industry opens its
window to NUST academia. It consists of stalls, lead by Technical and HR personals
from a range of companies and provides an ideal juncture for informal interaction to
take place between students and professionals. It also provides a platform for the students to
showcase their endowments in the different fields of science. More over it provides the budding
professionals to grasp Job/Internship opportunities. This exhibition also aims to be a stepping stone
towards recognition of NUST alumni and to develop a long term interaction with NUST’s current
students
All Pakistan Energy Summit is an annual event being planned by the society, keeping in view
the energy crisis and large scope for research and development in the sector. Society plans to
converge diverse opportunities to optimize energy in fields of alternative fuels, renewable energy,
construction design and materials, transportation and many others through exchange of research
knowledge and practice capabilities of different pathways.
TEDxNUST, TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It’s a
conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment,
and Design. TED believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately,
the world. So we're building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the
world's most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each
other. TEDx programs program gives communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to
stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
NUST Science Newsletter, planned to be a monthly printed feature, it would be a few pages
issue distributed among society members free of charge. The newsletter will briefly include about the
latest technological updates across the globe, upcoming conferences / symposiums and
competitions. The newsletter would be a connecting media for the members and would cater their
thirst for knowledge.
NUST Science Magazine, an annual society publication would include articles, society events
coverage, interviews and reviews on industry and Pakistani market.

his life as a student and how he was inspired to
start working towards the alleviation of his
country’s image. He revisited the time when he
was working on building the Shaheen missiles
and the first test launches. He went on to
discuss the ranges and accuracies of both the
Shaheen I and Shaheen II missiles and
mentioned the fact that they had a lateral
guidance system. Dr. Mubarakmand pointed
out their role as war deterrents and the many
times that war with our

about the Thar coal project and the vastness of
possibilities that it opened up. Dr.
Mubarakmand praised the reservoirs of
resources in Pakistan and its mineral wealth
and regretted the lack of initiative that caused
these to remain unexploited. He implored the
students in the audience to be the change that
they wished to see in the world.
After the floor was closed,
campus took a few moments to add to the

country’s image. He revisited the time when he
was working on building the Shaheen missiles
and the first test launches. He went on to
discuss the ranges and accuracies of both the
Shaheen I and Shaheen II missiles and
mentioned the fact that they had a lateral
guidance system. Dr. Mubarakmand pointed
out their role as war deterrents and the many
times that war with our neighbours was
diverted due to their presence. He also talked
coal project and the vastness of
possibilities that it opened up. Dr.
Mubarakmand praised the reservoirs of natural
resources in Pakistan and its mineral wealth
and regretted the lack of initiative that caused
these to remain unexploited. He implored the
students in the audience to be the change that
they wished to see in the world.
After the floor was closed, Rector NUST H-12
campus took a few moments to add to the
message of Dr. Mubarakmand, calling him one
of the few national heroes the nation could be
proud of. He thanked him for his time and
concluded the ceremony.
