SPORTS SHORTSMLB: Twins, KC bolster rotations

The Twins acquired veteran lefthandedpitcher Jaime García, catcher Anthony Recker and cash from the Braves for minor league righty Huascar Ynoa. The 31yearold García was 47 with a 4.30 ERA, 41 walks and 85 strikeouts in 18 starts for the Braves this year.l The Royals acquired righthanded

starter Trevor Cahill and relievers Ryan Buchter, and Brandon Maurer from the Padres in return for pitchers Matt Strahm, Travis Wood and infield prospect Esteury Ruiz. l In Seattle, James Paxton allowed

four singles over seven innings to win his fifth consecutive start in July and Kyle Seager homered to pace the Mariners to a 40 victory over the Red Sox.l In Arlington, Texas, Giancarlo Stan

ton homered twice to move into a tie for the major league lead with Aaron Judge with 32, sending the Marlins over the Rangers 40.

NFL: ’Boys cut Whitehead over arrest The Cowboys released receiver and kick

returner Lucky Whitehead after he was linked to a shoplifting arrest in Prince William County, Va., with his agent saying he believes it was a case of mistaken identity.

Whitehead was escorted off the field by

a member of the Cowboys’ public relations staff after a morning walkthrough practice at training camp Monday in Oxnard, Calif. Whitehead also missed his July 6 court hearing — resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest for failure to appear, according to TMZ. l Colts quarterback Andrew Luck’s

surgically repaired shoulder will land him on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp, the team announced. General manager Chris Ballard said the move is not considered a setback.

Safety Clayton Geather (neck surgery)will also be on the PUP list and miss the first six weeks of the season. l The Chargers will bring in former

Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III for a workout Tuesday, according to ESPN. It is the first team Griffin has visited this offseason.lGeneral manager John Elway agreed

to a new fiveyear contract with the Broncos.

ETC.: Dale Jr. lands TV gig with NBCDale Earnhardt Jr. will join NBC

Sports Group’s coverage of stock car racing next year.

The agreement with NBC Universal willalso allow Earnhardt to pursue “a wide range of opportunities in the company’s media businesses, including movies, television, podcasts, and other areas.”

Former heavyweightchampion of the worldMike Tyson isn’t givingConor McGregor a fighting chance — or even acorrect identification.

In an interview withBarstool Sports’ “PardonMy Take,” Tyson, who frequently grinded togetherMcGregor’s name, did notmince words when askedabout the megabout setfor Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, deemed one of the mosthyped fights ever.

“McGregor is going toget killed boxing,” Tysonpredicted.

Iron Mike’s pick is instep with Vegas, whomade 490 boxer FloydMayweather, 40, theheavy favorite over theMMA star who has neverboxed. Tyson is especially confident in Mayweather because of therules of the boxing match— in that, it’s a boxingmatch.

“I got mad because Ithought they were goingto use MMA rules againstboxing because that’s whatit’s all about: Can theboxer beat the MMA guy?”Tyson said. “McConor put

his dumb ass in a positionwhere he’s gonna getknocked out because thisguy’s been doing this allhis life, since he was ababy. McConor can’t kickand grab and stuff, so he

won’t stand much of achance.”

Tyson said that if hefought McGregor, 29, hewould have allowed himto use his legs.
