Noke has used Second Life as a way to experiment with new methods for the art. She especially uses a mixed technique of photography and sculpture. The subjects she explores are based on the emotive concept of the dual, the divided, the hidden, and the inner reflection. She has have shown at numerous virtual galleries and especially enjoys creating installations as an exploration for the senses.

11 February-April 2009: Comic Girl, exhibition. Museum Karura Art Centre (MKAC), Spain.

In the exhibition “Comic Girl “, Noke shows us her last artistic production. The museum’s space is full of fragments; life’s pieces. With different photographs from a woman, herself-portrait, leads to us to watch beyond the puzzle visual that conform these pieces. It prefers to flee from the evidence and almost never it shows complete the face to us, that is in flight until the following moment. Bankruptcy could be said that, like in the first automatic cameras, the model becomes evasive, and is exploded at different moments. This apparent fragility reveals a data to us. The reflection of a feeling that lodges between desire and fear. Because Noke invites us to observe a woman in the different phases of love. The election of the basic tones produces restlessness, resisting the targets black and white. It is added that the fragment maintains intrigues it and generates the doubt. We did not finish knowing her at all. Noke allows us the vision, yes, but from one it distances. If in some occasions it seems to be contemplating the sequence to us of comic black, in others we have the perception of “voyeur” of black novel; like watching her through the eye of the lock. Noke really gives us the privacy of the emotion of a woman who shows “divided and divided in different facets that are receiving importance at different moments: Images of flirt, being in love, desire, passion, pain, rupture…”, as she has defined these works.

“He organizado al menos tres exposiciones con Noke, y la he visto en otras dos. Es una de las artistas más innovadoras, además de una excelente colaboradora, en el panorama de Second Life (SL) donde, además de artistas puramente originarios de entornos virtuales, tenemos artistas consagrados de la Real Life (RL). ¿Por qué sus trabajos son innovadores, creativos y frescos? Primero conviene explicar cómo se está desarrollando el mundo del arte en Second Life. El ser un mundo virtual tiene la ventaja de la facilidad para materiales, montajes e instalaciones. Precisa de un conocimiento profundo en materia de diseño gráfico, manejo de programación en lenguaje del programa, visión artística, y una gran dosis de imaginación. Todas estas facilidades han propiciado la aparición de "artistas" de SL por doquier. Este entorno tiene también sus problemas: Los panoramas "planos", la interacción observador-obra mediada por un avatar, no directa, la calidad y resolución de gráficos (que no es para todos igual). En un principio, el arte en SL fue un traspaso mediante fotos, subidas como texturas, de los trabajos de la Real Life. Bien pronto se observó que esta aplicación tiene su propia idiosincrasia: Los colores, el movimiento, la luz son los que realmente gustan a la gente. Un ejemplo: las acuarelas en SL se ven planas, tristes. Nadie les dedicaría una segunda mirada. Es decir, realmente no todo el arte se puede trasponer a los mundos virtuales (VW).

14 A partir de este punto nace un arte que se ha apoyado sobre todo en la escultura. La cantidad de prims por metro cuadrado que soporta el sistema, factor limitante en SL, llevó a que la escultura virtual también evolucionara. De luchar en un principio por imitar cuerpos y formas lo más realista posible, lo q ocasionaba un exceso de prims, se pasó a un arte más libre, con influencias abstractas, expresionistas, cinéticas y figurativas. Se trabaja con montajes, con scripts que llevan la cinética y los medios audiovisuales a extremos increíbles. Esto es el panorama de vanguardia del arte en SL ahora mismo. Toda esta explicación era necesaria para entender dónde nos encontramos y qué aportación realiza Noke. Como dije, han proliferado los "artistas", lo digo entre comillas porque realmente muchos son personas que manejan bien el programa y sus posibilidades, pero les falta ese algo... lo que diferencia un objeto artísticamente decorativo de una obra de arte. Por otro lado, como en todos los movimientos, se ha producido un exceso: Ya todo es prácticamente igual, luces, movimiento y scripts raros. Noke se encuentra entre las pocas personas que realizan un arte claramente transponible a RL, con trabajos en 2D combinados con los 3D que ofrece SL. Además, sus instalaciones interactúan con el espacio: Ya no son paredes o suelo donde colocar las cosas, sino un rincón donde la fértil imaginación del artista crea un micromundo del que el espectador puede formar parte. Estos son los puntos fuertes de su obra: Variar para cada exposición, interactuar con el sitio con instalaciones, innovar respecto al resto de lucecitas y movimiento repetitivo de otros "artistas", y no dejar de tener presente RL.

Puedo no sonar objetiva, ya que trabajar con ella siempre ha sido un placer, pero he tenido la suerte como curator en VW de ver muchos artistas, muchas galerías, y de tener una opinión bastante real y actualizada de como está el arte en SL. Le auguro a Noke un gran futuro, no solo en entornos viruales (que personalmente lo considero una plataforma de lanzamiento), sino también fuera de éstos. Una maravillosa artista y persona con la que espero compartir muchos más proyectos.”
