NYU's Affordability: It's a BigProblemThe cost of attending NYU is one of the most pressing

issues for many students. This year, Student Government

has convened a task-force to find specific ways to make

NYU more affordable. The agenda items include increasing

financial transparency and information sharing on

opportunities NYU offers that helps make student life in

New York City more affordable. The task force also has

non-student government membership.

SustainabilityThe Sustainability Task Force combines the expertise of

students on Student Government as well as environmental

leadership on campus to address issues of sustainability on

campus as it pertains to student life. We collaborate with

the environmental organizations on campus, as well as

with the department of Environmental Studies and the

Office of Sustainability to support and achieve collectives

goals that will increase and perpetuate sustainable actions

on campus.

GenderFor the current academic year, the Gender Understanding

& Inclusivity Task Force is committed to exploring issues

around gender that exist at NYU and taking action to

alleviate these issues and better the student experience.

We have identified several areas where improvements can

be made, such as: increasing gender-neutral bathrooms &

locker rooms, updating the housing portal to better the

gender neutral housing system, and increasing the

opportunities for everyone at the university to learn about

what gender is and isn't. We are still looking for feedback

and opinions from the student body, so if you have any

questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to reach

out to [email protected]

issues, “Abolish the Box,” NYU Divest, financial aid and the academic calendar. John also

addressed the issue of space and crowded facilities. To close, we got to hear a little bit

about John’s plans after the semester. We look forward to having these same

opportunities with Andy!
