NZIS was established in 1986 by founder and visioneer, Fiso John Fiso (ONZM). NZIS is a Category 1 provider, which is the highest confidence rating from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority in educational performance and capability. Our focus is centered around our highly popular, first and second year tertiary Programmes at Level 5 and 6 on the NZQA framework.

NZIS has fantastic degree options for students who have finished the NZIS tertiary Programmes. We have also been active in creating specialist niche Programmes that supercharge our main tertiary sport qualifications. These include foundation Programmes and industry-based Programmes like Personal Training and Pre-Police Proficiency. At NZIS, you will also be supported with tools to enhance your own sporting performance.

We are so proud of the many graduates who have passed through our doors and gone on to realise their dreams. Take your first step towards an exciting and rewarding career!

Academy sessions are designed to show the different forms of high end conditioning exercises that professional athletes utilise and allows students to work these into their own training.

Camp WeekDuring the first term, camp week is a highlight where you are taken out of your comfort zone and into a challenging outdoor environment. During this time, team cohesion is developed as the students get to know each other.

International Sports ToursEach year NZIS offers new opportunities for students to travel overseas on sport and cultural exchanges. Previous tours include volleyball at Tsuda Sport Institute in Japan, men’s and women’s rugby in USA, indoor netball and basketball in Australia, netball in Fiji and more.

Sports Exchange

Each year students compete between campuses in a variety of sports including rugby, netball, volleyball, indoor cricket, soccer, crossfit and athletics. The games are played over four days, and Sports Exchange is NZIS’s event of the year.

This exciting competition is a chance for students to show their excellence in sports. The Sports Exchange is all about fun, social interaction and healthy competition!
