. o` e St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Mission Statement
Our mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by living the Gospel
of Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and Service as taught by
the Roman Catholic Church. St. Peter Parish is a community of
dedicated Catholics centered on the Eucharist, which is the source
and the summit of all that we do and hope to become. Approved August 19, 2014
PARISH SACRAMENTS
SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is central to who we are and what we do.
Regular Mass Times are listed on the front of the
bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To
receive formation for First Holy Communion,
contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the Sacrament of Confession is where we come into
contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a
personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered. If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession
for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-
9408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal
Life. To have your infant baptized, please contact
the Parish Office at least 2-4 months prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough time to
complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents should be registered, participating members of the Parish Family.
Proposed Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors receive a Baptismal Packet which must be
completed and received before attendance at a
Baptismal instruction class is scheduled. A Baptismal date is determined after all Church
requirements are satisfied.
If you are a parent or an adult seeking the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact the Parish
Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love
for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the Church and the world. Couples discerning the
vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments
accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of
the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment. Also, contact the church office before
you contact anyone else in making funeral
arrangements. We are here to guide you through that most difficult time.

As a diocese, we will soon participate in the Ash Wednesday collection for Catholic Charities of Acadiana. I believe that you share in our concern for those who are experiencing poverty, hunger, and homelessness in our community. We believe in ensuring that basic human needs are met in our community. We believe that any individual experiencing hunger in our community presents an emergency, one where out faith compels us to respond. with this core belief in mind, Catholic Charities of Acadiana operates St. Joseph Diner and FoodNet Food Bank.
Since 1983, St. Joseph Diner has provided hot meals for those who experience hunger in Acadiana. Just last year alone, the Diner provided 101,837 meals at no cost to those who were experiencing a need. In the same spirit, FoodNet Food Bank has distributed hundreds of thousand of pounds of food to those in need since being founded by Marcelle Citron in 1987. a new program to Catholic Charities of Acadiana, FoodNet Food Bank distributes approximately 300,000 pounds of feel each year. Distributions include staples such as rice, beans, peanut butter, canned vegetables and more. Catholic Charities of Acadiana is currently engaged in expanding FoodNet’s mission to the rural areas of Acadiana where we can provide support to existing food pantries and soup kitchens as they serve those experiencing hunger closest to them. Together we can work to provide for those who are experiencing hunger and care for the sacred gift of all human life, especially the most vulnerable. Take a Stroll with WINE and Come
“Walk in Her Sandals” this Lent
What if you could have witnessed the last days of Jesus’ life, from his triumphant Jerusalem entrance to Resurrection Sunday? How would you have been changed? Take a prayerful and creative journey this Lent, and experience Christ’s Passion through the eyes of women. WINE (Women In the New Evangelization) is breaking open the scriptures to help women cultivate the six feminine gifts identified in the writings of St. John Paul II. Join us on Monday, March 2nd as we launch this Lenten study on the final days of Christ as seen through the eyes of women. This WINE book (edited by founder Kelly Wahlquist and ten other leading Catholic writers) creatively blends scripture, imaginative encounters, virtue studies, and prayer to help us Walk in Her Sandals. We will meet in a small group weekly on Monday nights from 7pm – 9pm to share thoughts from the book readings and insights written in our companion journal and study guides. Come prepare your heart for Lent! Text “Walk” to 337.205.3917 or contact Erin Dufour @ 337.534.7909 by Ash Wednesday, February 26th to walk even closer to the heart of Jesus.

O Lord Jesus Christ, great High Priest, I pray that You call many worthy souls to Your holy priesthood. Enlighten the Bishop and Vocation Director in the choice of candidates, the Spiritual Directors in molding them, and the professors in instructing them. Lead the seminarians daily in Your unerring footsteps, so that they may become priests who are models of purity, possessors of wisdom, and heroes of sacrifice. May they be steeped in humility and aflame with love for God and man, apostles of Your glory, and sanctifiers of souls. Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us. Amen.
To help save the life of an unborn baby, it is recommended an individual say the following daily prayer for a period of nine months.
“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of [baby’s name] the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”
~ Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
Your Spiritually Adopted Baby’s Development
The baby is a 2-pound bundle of joy. He or she weighs about the same as the quart of milk the mother should drink daily to get her recommended 1,200 mg of calcium. For the first time since baby's eyelids formed, they've opened, revealing bluish-colored eyes. Don't get too attached to the color — it might change in the first few months of life. There isn't much to see inside the uterus, but if you shine a light on mother’s abdomen, the baby might react with a flurry of movement.

PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS
You saw me in the womb… ~Ps 139:15
REFLECTION: Some people think that embryos are too small to be persons with rights. But from the perspective of our faith, we can ask a similar question about the Eucharist. The smallest
particle is the Body of Christ. Is the host too small to be worshiped and adored as our Lord and God?
PRAYER: Lord, help us to realize that value does not depend on size. May our Eucharistic faith lead us to serve the most vulnerable.
BONNE MORT SOCIETY ANNUAL DUES The Bonne Mort Society will be collecting annual dues of $1.00 BEFORE ALL WEEKEND MASSES beginning MARCH 1st THROUGH MARCH 29th. In this special year that has been dedicated to St. Joseph, let’s use this act of devotion to St. Joseph as a Corporal Work of Mercy for
the needy in our community. By doing so, you are sharing blessings with others.

OFFERING TOTAL $5,848.00

Insurance Donations $100.00
On-Live Giving (2/10-2/16) $706.00
A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT SEVENTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
In another passage from his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus continues to turn his disciples’ way of thinking upside down. One of the lessons for the Christian steward in today’s Gospel is that if we have a chance to help someone in need, we should be generous and give more than is expected of us. Jesus went “the extra mile” for us. Can we be more like Jesus and “go the extra mile” for others?
ASH WEDNESDAY SPECIAL COLLECTION CATHOLIC CHARITITES OF ACADIANA
As a diocese, we will participate in the Ash Wednesday collection for Catholic Charities of Acadiana. Your
support of this special collection makes a difference for those who are in need of shelter and can assist CCA in helping them regain housing stability. In addition, 25% of donations collected will go directly toward social ministries in each deanery. Together we can work to shelter the homeless and care for the sacred gift of all human life, especially the most vulnerable. Please give generously to the Ash Wednesday collection to support Catholic Charities of Acadiana in their mission to provide safe shelter to people experiencing homelessness in our community. Envelopes for this collection are in your envelope packets and can also be found in your pews.
