St. Gregory the Great

Mission Statement

St. Gregory the Great is a Catholic Church made up of people of many different ages, talents, and cultural backgrounds. We are an urban faith community with a small town feel of welcome and hospitality. Motivated by our baptismal calling, we accept our duty to embody the presence of Jesus Christ in the world and to take up the mission he entrusted to us by our word and example. We glorify God through support and service of our time, talent, and treasure to our church and to the larger community in which we live.

SATURDAY SCHOOL OF RELIGION St. Gregory’s Saturday School of Religion is open for registration at the Parish Center for the 2017-2018 year. Early registration is recommended and takes place during normal business hours. Opening day on Saturday, September 16 begins with 9:30am Mass in the Church. Tuition remains the same at $125 for one child and $50 additional for a second child.

Three things are required at the time of registration:

⇒ A new registration form must be completed for each child registered in our program. ⇒ A tuition form indicating payment agreement must be signed and accompanied by a $25, non-refundable deposit, applied to tuition. ⇒ A copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate must be included.

Early registration is encouraged because class size is limited, especially those preparing for sacraments. Any class that has reached its limited number will be closed to further registrations. Contact Sister Regina at 773-561-3546 for further information. SUMMER MISSION APPEAL – CATHOLIC VOLUNTEER NETWORK This weekend please welcome Rev. Savio Sajala of the Society for Faith and Children’s Education who will speak to us about the work that they do. A special collection will be taken up after communion at all the Masses as part of the annual Summer missionary appeal of the Archdiocese of Chicago. S FACE was founded in 2006 in the Diocese of Green Bay, WI. S FACE is committed to answering the call of the Gospel to “hear the cries of the poor” by means of Evangelization through education; believes all children should have access to a Christian education regardless of their age, gender, culture, country of origin, or the socioeconomic situation of their families; provides a post-secondary education for the youth in India with a future global and educational Christian vision for Evangelization; believes that the love of Jesus Christ empowers youth to overcome poverty so they may live a more dignified life while fulfilling their role within the Great Commission. For more information, visit www.sfacemission.org Please be as generous as your means allow to support this worthy cause. SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In this Gospel, Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and caught Peter, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Please help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul bring respite and hope to the elderly who are not able to find relief from the summer heat, and you will bring them faith and hope.
