Dear Colleague,

I hope you are looking forward to our 15th Annual Conference inToronto on October 21 – 23, 2011. You will have an opportunity totouch base with old friends and colleagues and meet new ones.

This year, we will be discussing, as our theme, Us & Them: How Gastroenterologists Interact with Other Organizations. You will have

an opportunity to see how we interact with our provincial and federal regulators andother organizations. We will have a controversial debate between the CAG and theOAG – will it be chaos or will we walk away as friends?

We hope you will participate actively in the discussions, and have a much better understanding of how our regulators operate and interact with gastroenterologists. We will be presenting highlights of the popular and well-received St. Michael’s Endoscopy Course.

Our companions will be cooking with the renowned Bonnie Stern and will have attheir disposal the serene Still Waters Spa where they can calm their senses and rejuvenate as they gear up for an evening of glitz and glamour.

This year, for our Gala, we will take you back to the era when searchlights swept thenight sky as the rich and famous arrived in their limousines. This is the perfect opportunity to let your “inner star” out, sip cocktails, honour and toast the Oscarwinner of our specialty, Dr. R. Allan Hart at the Liberty Grand. It will be a perfect combination of elegance, sophistication and charm.

I would like to extend a special thank you to our preeminent and platinum partnersand conference sponsors for providing the financial support to help us host educational initiatives for our members.

This year’s Conference offers insight, education and entertainment of the highestcaliber. I hope you will be able to attend.

Regards,

David Baron, MD, FRCP(C)President

WELCOME

I look forward to welcoming you to the Ontario Association of Gastroenterology's 15th Annual Conference and hope you will enjoyyour experience in Toronto.

Realizing that we deal with different agencies on a daily basis, your conference organizing committee thought it would be a good idea tohave each of these partners visit us this year. They will review what

they do on our behalf, and make suggestions as to how we can optimally interact with them. The debate this year will feature two of our well-renowned col-leagues going head-to-head to discuss the relative merits of the OAG versus theCAG. Sunday will feature our almost-annual review of the St. Michael's EndoscopyCourse, and our official Annual General Meeting.

On the social front we will have the President’s Welcome Dinner on Friday night, and the Gala this year will be an Ode to Glamour, to be held at the glorious Liberty Grand. Spouses will be treated to a cooking workshop with one of Canada'smost celebrated food personalities, Bonnie Stern.

I would like to thank the organizing committee and moderators for their assistancein putting this meeting together. Of course, none of this would be possible withoutthe incredible efforts put in by Melonie Hart and the team at Taylor Enterprises. Herexperience, insight, and aesthetic touch make my job infinitely easier.

Are you still reading this? For the life of me I don’t know why. I have always wantedto know who reads this far into these things. Let me know and I will get you a drinkat the Gala. OK, the drinks are complimentary, but still, I’d like to know that includ-ing this actually serves a purpose.

We look forward to seeing you in October.
