Welcome to The Ball 2019! We are so glad to see guests who have attended events supporting Pillars Community Health before, as well as guests joining us for the first time. I’d also like to give a special note of welcome to the “next generation” of younger adults joining us this evening.
This evening, we are celebrating your “Power of One” – your compassion. Compassion is defined as “kindness, caring, and willingness to help others.” Pillars Community Health is so very fortunate to have had compassionate supporters for
nearly 98 years through our predecessor organizations. We are also so very grateful that your support has continued through this past year as a newly merged entity. Your acts of compassion are demonstrated through financial support, volunteering on our board, working as one of our incredible staff members, volunteering as a sexual assault or domestic violence advocate, volunteering at our Community Shop, hosting a Buddy’s Place outing, or serving as a member of our fantastic Ball Committee.
Even a single act of compassion echoes throughout our community and can change the lives of the thousands of individuals and families we serve. Compassion is vital for Pillars Community Health to achieve its vision of ensuring that people have access to the care they need, when they need it. That can mean creating plans of escape from domestic violence, treating a chronic medical condition, overcoming the unfortunate stigma that is still linked to mental illness and addiction, or providing social and educational support to the youngest among us in our community who truly need a head start. Compassion truly enables us to wrap our services around individuals and families when they most need it, and that makes our communities healthier and stronger.
Enjoy the evening!
Angela CurranPresident and Chief Executive Officer
We are excited to welcome you tonight as
we celebrate the Pillars Community Health
mission, and invite you to join us in our
vision of a community where people have
access to the care they need, when they
need it. Your support this evening makes
this vision a reality for the thousands and
thousands of people who access our services
each year.
It has been a privilege to serve on the Pillars
Community Health Board of Directors
for more than a decade and see, firsthand, how the wonderful staff
and volunteers work each day to improve the lives of the people living
right next door to us. It truly takes all of us coming together to create
stronger, healthier communities, and, though there is always work to be
done, tonight is one such occasion of unity. Though a single night is a
small fraction of a person’s life, it takes only one night, one moment, of
kindness to create an entire legacy of positive change. Tonight is a chance
for each of us to add our own mark to the amazing legacy that Pillars
Community Health carries on today.
I am honored to be with you all tonight as Chair of the Board and look
forward to an inspiring evening. Thank you for your support – I hope that
you will stay involved with our organization for years to come.
