1 OAKRIDGE ESTATES GREENBELT TREE INVENTORY To: Design File Prepared by: Larry Riggs Date: February 17, 2019 [Note: This document must be printed in color as greenbelt and tree notations may not be clearly visible in black and white.] Summary There are 103 greenbelt trees in Oakridge Estates, down from 118 in 2005 when the last count was conducted. Of the 103 trees, four are new to the inventory—these are the ones located at the south end of Area 9. Oakridge trees are identified by the area in which they are located. Areas are numbered 1 to 9. Availability This document is available on the Oakridge website home page at www.oakridgenp.org. Just click or tap Greenbelt Tree Inventory 2019 from within the list of Quick Links. Purpose This document identifies all the greenbelt trees for which the Oakridge Estates Community Association has maintenance responsibility, i.e., which need periodic trimming. It serves the following purposes: When the Association selects a tree trimmer, this document may be made available to the trimmer to assist them with the task. The foreman in charge of the trimming may use the document to ensure the task is performed as bid. During the period—a week or so—of the year when the trees are being trimmed, a Board and/or Landscaping Committee member or members may reference this document and monitor the trimming process to ensure it is done to the Association’s satisfaction. In the past we have experienced trimming errors such as skipping trees. Important Note: A few trees (usually eucalyptus trees) pose a threat to some homeowners, due to their size and proximity to homes. The letter or letters identifying such trees are colored orange ( ) instead of yellow (E). These trees are candidates for extreme trimming and/or removal. How the Document Was Created I obtained aerial views of Oakridge Estates from Bing (Figure 1 and Figure 2) and Google (Figure 3 to Figure 9) and recorded them as screenshots. I imported these images into Adobe Photoshop and carefully cropped them. I used Photoshop to paint the nine areas pink in Figure 1. I inserted these cropped images into this Word document. I printed out these map images and walked the greenbelts, marking tree locations on the printouts. Only trees needing professional trimming were selected. Then, using Microsoft Word’s text box feature, I consulted these tree location notes and carefully placed identifiers onto these map images to show location and tree type. I printed out the Word document, which now contained tree identifiers, and walked the greenbelts one more time to verify accuracy. I made necessary corrections and then converted the document to a pdf. As our tree count changes, likely due to tree removals, this Word document can be updated. Tree Locations The nine areas within Oakridge Estates greenbelts that contain trees requiring trimming are illustrated in Figure 1.

OAKRIDGE ESTATES GREENBELT TREE INVENTORY

in black and white.]

Summary There are 103 greenbelt trees in Oakridge Estates, down from 118 in 2005 when the last count was conducted.

It serves the following purposes:

• When the Association selects a tree trimmer, this document may be made available to the trimmer to assist them with the task. The foreman in charge of the trimming may use the document to ensure the task is performed as bid.

• During the period—a week or so—of the year when the trees are being trimmed, a Board and/or Landscaping Committee member or members may reference this document and monitor the trimming process to ensure it is done to the Association’s satisfaction. In the past we have experienced trimming errors such as skipping trees.

Important Note: A few trees (usually eucalyptus trees) pose a threat to some homeowners, due to their size and proximity

to homes. The letter or letters identifying such trees are colored orange ( ) instead of yellow (E). These trees are

candidates for extreme trimming and/or removal.

Figure 1 Numbered Oakridge Estates Tree Trimming Areas

Table 1 provides names for these nine areas and identifies the corresponding figures that show the locations and types of trees. For each area, the tree count is shown along with the tree count in 2005. In the last fourteen years, 19 trees have been removed and four have been added to the inventory. The Area No column references the numbers in Figure 1.

Tree Types and Counts by Greenbelt Table 2 identifies the tree types and counts for each of the nine areas. The Code column contains the tree codes that appear on the figures that follow. The location of these 1- and 2-character codes on each figure corresponds to the tree’s location on the greenbelt. GB1 to GB9 represent the nine greenbelts and correspond to numbers in the Area No column in Table 1.
