The biggest ever Member-
Guest Roadrunner Invitational
boasted an immense challenge
for all 180 players this year as
the weather played a major role
during the competition. During
the two-day event, over 1.5 inch-
es of rain fell. Despite the gusty
winds, rain, and below normal
temperatures, 84 of the 90
teams still finished the 36-hole
competition on April 8th & 9th.
This year the men’s teams
consisted of four flights with 13
teams in each flight. The women
had three flights consisting of 12
-14 teams of each flight. The
format for the men and women
was a Scramble on the Palmer
and Best Ball on the Canyons-
Below are some of the results for

The tournament committee
did a great job this year han-
dling all facets of the tourna-
ment. A big thank you to Robin
Reed who wore many hats run-
ning this great event. We would
also like to thank Barry McKay
running the horserace, Curt
Hansen for being the Calcutta
master and Ron & Nan Hills in
their continued support for pay-
outs and tournament booklet.
Congratulations to Club Cham-
pions: Alan Howa & Sarah
Bowman (below)

Despite the
The 15th annual Fish Fry
on Friday, April 15th was a
great success as we had over
80 Oasis members and their
guests attend. Throughout
the years, the fish fry has
been one of my favorite so-
cial events not only for the
fish but to visit and cele-
brate with all the members
before they head to cooler
climates for the summer. I
hope the tradition of this
great event lives on.
As part of the fish fry
this year were the formal
presentation to 2016 club
champions; Sarah Bowman
and Allan Howa. I congrat-
ulate them and hope they
can come back next year to
reclaim their traveling tro-
phy. As part of being cham-
pion, they received a courte-
sy cart parking spot front
and center until next year’s
2017 Club Championships
over Easter weekend. Dates,
TBA.
I would like to extend
my personal gratitude to all
the hard work and time the
Roadrunner Invitational
tournament committee put
in the past three months.
Despite the weather, both
the committee and Scott’s
turf care staff worked dili-
gently to keep both courses
playable for those two
days.
Rain is not always nega-
tive though as the turf
conditions flourish as we
head into summer weather
patterns.
As Director of the Virgin
Valley Junior Golf Associa-
tion for several years, I be-
lieve the continued growth
of the game is essential
through junior golf in-
struction. The VVJGA are
looking for volunteers to
help the instructors part-
time in June during the one
hour clinics. If you would
like to help please see me or
Adam for details. Clinics
will start June 7th and will
run Tuesday-Thursday for
the following three weeks.
I would like to thank
the members for their con-
tinued support of the club.
We had quite an influx or
new members and look for-
ward to making sure every-
one enjoys their time golf-
ing here at Oasis.
Course Superintendent, Scott Polychronis
I would like to
thank Terry Donnelly, Fay
Schulz, and Sheryl
Warfield for their time and
effort on the Greens and
Social committee. Terry
and Fay are stepping
down and Sheryl is stay-
ing on. We appreciate
their input and feedback
from the entire member-
ship. I think anyone who
serves on the greens com-
mittee has a better under-
standing of why we do
what we do. Thank you
for your support. We do
welcome the new greens
committee members: Alli-
son Webb and Club Cham-
pion Alan Howa.
It has been a busy
spring golf season. The
courses have shown some
signs of wear and tear
from constant play and
cart traffic. We appreciate
all the play we get during
our busy, peak season but
we continue to ask both
members and guests for
help in minimizing cart
traffic by doubling up
with playing partners
whenever possible.
Page 3 www.theoasisgolfclub.com
At this point, we
seem to be going the op-
posite direction seeing 3-
4 carts in a foursome
during member play
days.
The new mowing
equipment acquired last
August has been ex-
tremely helpful in our
ability to keep the golf
course mowed down at a
consistent level. The
spin type top-dresser al-
lows the crew to begin a
light and frequent (2-3
weeks) topdressing pro-
gram on the greens that
helps keep the putting
surfaces smooth and con-
sistent. We will try and
maintain this practice
throughout the growing
season to provide the
best possible playing
conditions on a daily ba-
sis.
Projects for this sum-
mer include de-silting
the lake on Palmer #11
again to increase water
storage capacity and re-
place or re-finish the cart
path on #11 Palmer too.
The continuance of bun-
ker renovation and refur-
bishing on both courses
will allow us to pick off
anywhere from 5-8 bun-
kers off the list this sum-
mer as well.
We will also be build-
ing a permanent red tee
on #10 Canyons and a
new blue tee on #6 Can-
yons. There are also sev-
eral other leveling of tee
boxes as well that will be
done if time and budget-
ary concerns allow. En-
joy the rest of spring
and have a great summer
wherever that may be.
What do you think of the Newsletter so far?
Page 4 The Oasis Spin
Tee times will begin at
6:00am in May on both courses.

5:30am-5:30pm everyday.

The 2016 official OWGA season
ended April 19th with a great event
on the Canyons known as the Flori-
da Scramble. For anyone who hasn’t
played in one, it is a quick way to
enjoy a lot of birdies with not hav-
ing to be out on the course all day.
We would like to congratulate our
club champion for the year, Sarah
Bowman. Sarah came back from a
1st round deficit to overcome Deb
Rees and Sheryl Warfield in a very
competitive two rounds. We had
great feedback on the optional age
division tournament as well during
the club championships so we look
forward to doing that again next
year. For complete results and win-
ners of the club championship,
please refer to the OWGA section of
the website.
The completion of the OWGA
Match Play concluded April 17th.
This year we had 40 players divided
into 3 brackets or flights. We would
like to thank Sheryl Warfield & Bev
Whitehead as committee members
for organizing the three month long
event. Winners are

Finally, the OWGA de-
cided to have a casual
Wine & 9 Day between all
these competitive tourna-
ments. It was a way for
the girls to relax and lay
back on a beautiful after-
noon for some casual golf.
We look forward to doing
this casual event again
next year.
