After hearing from his brother Andrew that Jesus was the Messiah, Simon, a fisherman,

gave up his nets to follow Jesus. Jesus renamed Simon as Peter and told him that he would

become a fisher of men. As one of the most renowned disciples out of the twelve, he had a

zealous and impulsive personality. Though he followed Jesus with strong commitment, there

were many times when he wavered within his heart and became reluctant. Even after Peter

vowed that “even if all fall away on account of you, I never will,” he betrayed Jesus three

times. When Jesus prophesized his death according to the scriptures Peter wrongly remarked

that “this shall never happen to you” (Matthew 16:22-23); while walking towards Jesus on the

sea, Peter began to sink into the water because he feared the waves beneath him (Matthew

14:19-20); when Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, Peter wouldn’t let Him wash his own-

without even knowing Jesus’ intentions (John 13:8); in front of those who came to capture

Jesus, Peter was zealous for Him -such as cutting off the ear of the high priest’s servant, and

etc. (John 18:3-10) but regardless of all this, Peter still knew very little of the Lord. However,

after betraying Jesus three times, Peter became greatly convicted within his conscience, wept

bitterly, and realized that he could not follow Jesus by relying on himself alone. However,

after the Pentecost Peter became filled with the Holy Spirit and began to evangelize.

Therefore in that one day of the Pentecost, Peter was able to lead three thousand souls to the

Lord that day, and was also able to lead five thousand men alone to becoming born again at

Solomon’s pilgrimage. By allowing Peter to undergo suffering and failures, Jesus was able to

have Peter rely more on Him- and gave Peter the strength to lead a life of fulfilling the Lord’s

will.

8 The Peter who Betrayed Jesus

Matthew 16, Luke 22

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,“Who do people say the Son of Man is?”They replied, “Some say___________________; others say ___________; and still others,______________________or one of the prophets.”But what about you?”he asked. “Who do you say I am?”Simon Peter answered, “You are___________________________, the Son of the Living God.”(Matthew 16:13-16)“Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying,

"Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean." But Peter said, "Man, Ido not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, therooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter rememberedthe word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you willdeny Me ___________ times." So Peter went out and wept bitterly.”(Luke22:59-62)

04.Let’s write down any of the times in which we betrayed Jesus like Peter ortried to hide the fact that we are Christians.

05.After betraying Jesus three times, Peter became greatly convicted within hisconscience, wept bitterly and realized that he could not follow Jesus by relying onhimself alone. From then on he spread the gospel with far more might and effort. What was the subject in which Peter spread to others, and how did the results ofhis evangelizing become apparent? (Acts 4:11-12, 2:41, 4:4)

He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?"Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you loveMe?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I loveYou." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep. (John 21:17)

01.After hearing from his brother Andrew that Jesus was the Messiah, Simon, afisherman, gave up his nets to follow Jesus. After Jesus renamed Simon as Peter, what kind of mission did He give to Peter? (Matthew 4:19-20).

02.Peter was one of the most renowned disciples out of the twelve (Matthew10:2). While Peter performed a miracle of walking over water for Jesus, he saw andfeared the heavy winds and began to sink into the water. As Jesus saved him, withwhat words did He rebuke him? (Matthew 14:31, 17:20)

Joseph underwent much trial and suffering living as a servant in Egypt. While

working as the head servant of Potiphar’s household, Potiphar’s wife requested

everyday that Joseph lie with her. But because Joseph refused her to the end,

Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him and had him sent to jail (Genesis 39:11-20). But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not know what is

with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. There is no onegreater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because youare his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"So it was, asshe spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her.(Genesis 39:8-10) However, with God allowing all this to happen, Joseph was able todo several things for God there (Genesis 39:22-23).

Afterwards, God has Egypt’s pharaoh dream a strange dream and has Joseph

interpret that dream. Through this, Joseph was able to win the favor of pharaoh and

become the Prime Minister of Egypt. Joseph not only brought Egypt out of years of

great famine, but was also able to save his father and brothers out of the land of

Canaan. Joseph was able to sit on a high position of nobility because he endured the

long period or trial he received from God. It appears to have been a time of youth

wasted for Joseph. However, if we look at it in God’s standards, it was not a time of

wasted youth but a time of refinement. God had plans for Joseph and with them he

refined and strengthened Joseph- so whatever suffering we receive, we should not be

discouraged or blame God for our hardship.

It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may________________________________________.(Psalms 119:71)

9 Joseph’s Trial and Nobility Genesis 37-45

Joseph was a child given to his father Jacob when his father was of very oldage. Also being the first son of his father’s beloved wife Rachel, Joseph grew upreceiving the love of his father with exclusive possession. However, his brotherswere jealous of this and sold him away to Egypt for twenty pieces of silver(Genesis 37:28).

Then Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and liftedhim out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt. (Genesis 37:28)

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulationproduces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.(Romans 5:3-4)

04.Compare the actions of Joseph to that of Jesus’s and reflect how Josephresembled Jesus. (e.g. after Joseph’s suffering, he becomes a prime minister ofEgypt; Jesus comes to sit on the right- seat of God).

05.It is inexpressible the suffering Joseph must have went through afterbeing falsely accused of a crime he did not commit, and having to spend muchof his youth in prison. Let’s compare our hearts to that of Joseph, who came torely more on God in times of suffering rather than scorning God.

Born-Again Christians live on this earth with the hopes of the heavens and God walks with

us in all areas of our lives. God comforts and protects us always; whether we are happy, sad,

or hurting, guiding us to righteousness. He is with us always. It is because He protects and

guides us that we are able to live safely in this land, a senseless barren world. But, like the

Israelites in the wilderness forsook God’s promise “Lord your God is with you wherever you

go” and were disciplined for resenting and testing Him, even us, born-again Christians

forsakes God’s words and suffer in our sins from time to time. Isn’t there a way for us to

walk with God all our life, as Enoch had in the Old Testament days? Enoch walked with God

for 300 years and went straight to heaven without seeing death. Before he entered heaven, he

was testified as one who “pleased God” (Hebrews 11:5). Enoch believed firmly that God is a

“living God” among us and always “a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

With this kind of faith, Enoch lived as a believer,

obeying God’s words. (Jude 1:14)

God is pleased when we seek what is acceptable to

the Lord and act accordingly to His will. (Ephesians

5:10). When we too obey and live out God’s will, He

will be pleased and be with us always. To walk with

God, we need to lead a holy and sacred lives. As

light and darkness cannot occupy the same space

together, likewise, if we do not walk in the light but

live among sin, we cannot maintain our sacred

relationship with God (I John 1:7). Often, we forget

His words in the midst of our daily lives. Starting

with the fact that we are alive and breathing, we need

to feel His presence in every aspect of our lives. We

can successfully lead a life of faith only when we

become aware of his everlasting presence in our lives

and believe He walks with us no matter what we are

doing.

10 Walking with the Lord

Psalms 23:4, Hebrews 11:5

And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. (Genesis 1:24)

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For

You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (Psalms 23:4)

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “ and was not found

because God had taken him”, for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he

pleased God. (Hebrews 11:5)

04. Let’s talk about instances when a Christian serves in the church but notbe walking with God.

01. 1. Let’s find records of Enoch in the Bible and write them down. (Genesis 5,Jude, etc...)

02. How do I need to be in order to be pleasing to God? Let’s write some down.(Samuel 15:22, Malachi 2:6)

03. Let’s write down ways how I can please God. (For example: Reading theBible, respecting parents, etc)

Rahab was a harlot who lived in the city of Jericho that was soon to be destroyed

due to the judgment of God. She was like any other Gentile who worshipped idols

but when she heard about the miracles in Egypt and the Red Sea and how God had

annihilated the Amorites in Jordan, she began to believe in the salvation of God.

Rahab disobeyed the king’s decree by hiding the two Israelite spies that entered the

city of Jericho. In accordance with God’s promise, she and her family were spared

from the destruction awaiting Jericho by binding a scarlet cord in the window

(Joshua 2:18, 2:21, 6:22-25). Therefore, Rahab the harlot, who was a Gentile,

received the utmost glory by being included into the genealogy of Jesus. The

salvation of Rahab is an example of Gentiles who will be saved through Jesus

Christ’s precious blood.

11 The Salvation of the Gentile RahabJoshua 2 and 6

And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that shehad. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whomJoshua sent to spy out Jericho. (Joshua 6:25)

The harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she hadreceived the spies with peace. (Heb. 11:31)

Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she receivedthe messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without thespirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (James 2:25-26)

John the apostle received calling from Jesus when he was working on the boat as a

fishermen with his brother James. They left their boat and their father behind to

follow Jesus. John always followed Jesus closely. As His beloved disciple, even

during the last days of Jesus, when others fled His side, John stayed faithfully by

Jesus’ side throughout His crucifixion. When Jesus was on the cross, John was

asked to take care of Mary and he did so faithfully by taking her into his house.

After Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, and His ascention to Heaven, John sought to

spread the gospel even during very difficult circumstances to testify His amazing

love for us. Because of his evangelism, he was banished to Patmos Island during

Emperor Domitian’s administration and there he recorded the book of Revelation

which is the only book of prophecy in the New Testament. Also, he recorded the

gospel of John in the New Testament, to deliver the message

that Jesus is God’s only Son, the Christ, and we need to believe

in Jesus the Savior to receive everlasting life. He also

recorded 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John, totaling 5 books in the

New Testament. He lived the longest of the 12 apostles

and spent his last days in Ephesus spreading the

gospel. John teaches us how God’s love

was manifested to us and we ought to

love one another, for we have

received His love.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoeverbelieves in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

And we have known and believed the love God has for us. God is love, and hewho abides in love abides in God, and God in him. (1John 4:16)

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought tolay down our lives for the brethren. (1John 3:16)

13 The Red Sea Crossing

Exodus 14-15The children of Israel departed from the land of Egypt after 430 years had passed

since Jacob entered and settled in the country (Exodus 12:40 - 41). After enduring

centuries of hard labor and slavery, Israel was now free of Pharaoh and headed

towards their Promised Land, Canaan. However, instead of choosing a direct route

to Canaan, God directed them to the coast of the Red Sea. Pharaoh's heart had once

more been hardened, and he deeply regreted his decision to let God's people to go.

He quickly fashioned his chariots and chased after the Isrealites with his vast army.

The children of Isreal were now trapped, with the Red Sea in front of them and

Pharoh's army quickly advancing at their backs. Isreal, instead of trusting God and

his servent Moses, rebuked them and decided to go back to Egypt.

Moses showed the children of Israel God's ultimate power. According to God's

word, Moses drew out his hand and the Red Sea split into two walls of water. The

children of Israel safely crossed the sea to the other side. Shortly after, Pharaoh's

army chased after Israel and entered the Red Sea.. At that moment God collapsed the

two walls of water into the army and decimated all of them. After witnessing this

great feat the children of Israel regretted their rebuking and now trusted God and his

servants.

During the Passover, the people of Israel received salvation through the sacrificing

of a lamb. The Red Sea crossing represents our baptism after receiving Christ as our

personal savior. After their crossing of the sea and the wilderness, it was impossible

to split the Red Sea once more and return to Egypt. Likewise, we as born again

Christians cannot return or go to the world of suffering and sin.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into thekingdom of the Son his love. (Colossians 1:13)

Exodus 14-15

And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see thesalvations of the LORD, which he will accomplish for you today. For theEgyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again no more forever.(Exodus 14:13)

To Him who divided the Red Sea in two, For his mercy indures forever; Andmade Israel pass throught the midst of it, For his mercy indures forever; Butoverthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, For his mercy indures forever.(Psalms 136:13-15)

Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers wereunder the cloud, all passed through under the sea, all were baptized into Moses inthe cloud and the sea. (1 Corinthians 10:1-2)

There is also an antitype which now saves us - baptism (not the removal ofthe filth of the flesh but the answer of a good conscience towards God), throughthe resurrection of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 3:21)

The next day, Aylward was pleased to sleep with her

clothes on, as per what Mrs. Lawson said.

The reason was because of the fact that

many people had come to see the foreigner

who had arrived, which was made known

due to a rumor that had spread.

“Gladys, I want tochange this house

into an inn.”

“What do you havein mind? Will anyonecome all the way uphere?”

The inn became widely known just

a short while after.

This was due to rumors spread by the mule hunters and a

newspaper journalist from northern China that the inn was

clean, had good food, and that they told long stories for free

in the night.

Mrs. Lawson and Aylward often went to other villages,

whenever they had time.

When they did, the people, who had never seen a white

person before, would all gather around.

By the end of the year, Aylward managed to learn

Chinese, though with difficulty, and…

Mrs. Lawson fell sick to a serious disease.

“Gladys, God hassent you by

answering myprayer. God wantsyou to work here in

my place.God will bless

One day after Mrs. Lawson died, a

“I came to askfor your

Miss Aylward, I

What do you

I received an official

Miss Aylward, would

you be the one to

and it says the custom of

foot-binding should be

law.

Aylward wondered whether this could be

the plan of God.Me?

Very well, officer.

I will do it.

In return, give me

a chance to

preach the gospel

to the isolated

To be continued...

God prepared the way for Aylward to

preach the gospel.

Under the protection of the Chinese

government, she was able to visit

many different houses in many

different villages.

As time went by, many were saved by the gospel

and the custom of *foot-binding began to

disappear.

Aylward received Chinese citizenship in 1936, in order

to evangelize to more Chinese people. She was called

‘Aiweade’in Chinese.

*foot-binding: a custom of tying women's feet with cloth, in order to make it smaller.

1 Daily Schedule

Ephesians 5:15-17

Redeeming the ________, because the days are evil. Therefore do not beunwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:16-17)

For none of us lives to ___________, and no one dies to himself. For if welive, we live to __________; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, wee are the Lord’. (Romans 14:7-8)

Ephesians 5:15-17

The Comparison of Two Christians’ Daily Schedule

We must remember that we are Christians as well as students. We are Christians

whom crucified our own desires and selfishness when Jesus was crucified on the

cross for our sins. Therefore we must realize that we no longer live for ourselves,

but for the glory of our Lord.

Like the phrase ‘we are the Lord’s’ (Romans 14:7-9), my life, time and

possession all really belong to Him. This very moment, the 24 hours of the day is

the Lord’s, and we are merely the caretakers of God’s time. Like the decisions

made by ‘brother Rightpath’ and ‘brother Wrongpath’, how we spend the God-given

time is up to us. However as born-again Christians, we all have the desire to live for

God. To do so, it is very important to have a planned schedule for the day and

strictly follow that schedule. In the daily schedule of Christians, we must have a

certain time set up to read the Bible everyday and pray everyday as Daniel did

(Daniel 6:10). Furthermore, we should also include times to witness to our family

members or friends about His love. If we can follow this schedule everyday and

once these days accumulate to years and decades, our spiritual lives will have

progressed remarkably. By then without realizing it, we will have grown spiritually

to become the righteous Christians that God wants us to be.

True Light 11

The Lord gave Adam a helper, Eve, and allowed them to live together in the

Garden of Eden. Within it were many different types of beautiful trees. In

particular, there were two trees, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good

and evil. God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree that gave him knowledge of

good and evil warning him that he will surely die the moment he eats it. However,

Satan, the most cunning serpent in the midst of the garden, tempted Eve to eat of the

forbidden fruit. Ultimately, Adam and Eve were thrown out of the garden because

they disobeyed God.

The Bible explains that Adam committed an immense sin against God by eating of

the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Due to his disobedience,

everyone born within his lineage essentially became sinners. When Adam ate of the

forbidden fruit, God prohibited him from entering into eternity by preventing him to

eat of the tree of life. Angels and swords of fire guard the tree of life so that anyone

who tries to go near it will surely die. Who then can reach the tree of life for all the

lost people before God? What Adam failed to do, Jesus completed. Two thousand

years ago, Jesus endured death in order to present the gift of life to us. He shed His

blood for us as He was being nailed to the cross…

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasantto the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate.She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. (Genesis 3:6)

Joshua 1-3

Joshua as known as Hosea is son of Abrahim from the Nun Tribe. He became the

servant of Moses and he did not depart from the tabernacle. As God has commanded

him he became a successor of Moses by his imposition of hands in front of the Priest

Eleazar and congregation of Israel. Joshua believed in God’s promise to be him

firmly and led Israelites to conquer Canaan successfully.

Yet, due to Achan’s sin Joshua had trouble taking the fortress Ai, and he made

many mistakes including disobeying God and making friendly relationship with

Gibeonite. This tells us that Christians must obey God’s words and believe in His

almighty power to stand against the wiles of the devil.

4He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to

rejoice in his light (John 5:35).

John the Baptist is the last prophet who

prepared the way of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He was born through the prayer of his father,

Zacharias and his mother, Elizabeth, and

according to the prophecy of the prophet,

Isaiah. John’s parents, Zacharias and

Elizabeth, were righteous before God,

walking in all the commandments and

ordinances of the Lord. Even from his

mother’s womb John the Baptist was filled

with the Holy Spirit and grew up as a

Nazarite since he was young.

He dwelt in the wilderness of Judah and

began to preach the word of God that came

upon him. He ate locusts and wild honey in

the wilderness and baptized people with the

baptism of repentance in Jordan River. When

he saw Jesus coming toward him he bore

witness saying, “Behold! The Lamb of God

who takes away the sin of the world (John

1:29)!” Moreover, he baptized Jesus with

water and saw the Holy Spirit descending

from heaven like a dove and remaining on

Jesus. Afterwards, he was killed for

rebuking Herod the tetrarch for taking Herodias, his brother’s wife, as his. “Repent!

The kingdom of heaven is at hand!” He boldly proclaimed the repentance of people.

He was pure and righteous, preparing the way of the Lord in the spirit and power of

Elijah.

John the Baptist who prepared the way of Jesus Christ

Matthew 3, Luke 1, John 1

For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine norstrong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’swomb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God(Luke 1:15-16).

In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, andsaying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”For this is he who wasspoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in thewilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.’”And Johnhimself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and hisfood was locusts and wild honey (Matthew 3:1-4).

04. What is the reason why John the Baptist came before Jesus (Luke3:3, Romans 3:19-20, Galatians 3:24)?

05. When we are in the sins of our daily lives, repentance is required torecover our fellowship with Jesus (Revelation 3:19-20, 1John 1:9). Whatare the things that you should repent about now?

Tower of Babel. Around this time God chose Abraham from the land of Ur of the

Chaldeans, a place where people worshipped idols, to pass on the tradition of

worshipping God and started the history of redeeming the mankind from sin. God

told Abraham, ‘Depart from the house of your farther and go to the land that I will

show you’. Abraham obeyed God and he left Ur of Chaldeans and went to the land

of Canaan through the land of Haran. God has called upon Abram (when Abram was

99 years old God has given him a new name ‘Abraham,’ farther of all nation) and

gave him three promises.

First, as God has told him to “Go to the land that I will show you,” he has given

Abraham the land of Canaan as a promise.

Second, as God told Abraham, “I will make you a great nation,” he has

established the nation of Israel through Abraham.

Third, God has said, “All people on earth will be blessed through your nation.”

This promise has a greater meaning in which Jesus Christ will be born from the

decedents Israelites and become the savior of all people on earth as well as leaving

the word of God, the Bible, in the hands of Israelites.

As he has promised, the first two has been fulfilled in the history of mankind, and

the third promise is being fulfilled as the gospel of Jesus Christ is being spread all

over the world.

All these could have been fulfilled because of Abraham’s faith in God’s promise.

Also, Abraham led a life of worship in hopes of perfect inheritance even after he

arrived in Canaan. We Christians should also live this life as foreigners and

strangers, looking forward to the kingdom of God in heave, our hometown.

5 Calling of Abraham

Genesis 12

Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your familyAnd from your father,s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you agreat nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be ablessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you’And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”So Abram departed asthe LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. (Genesis 12:1-4)

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which hewould receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he wasgoing. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwellingin tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: for hewaited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (Hebrews 11:8-10)

Genesis 1-2

The eternal God started the history of humankind by creating the heavens, the

earth, and all things, including human beings on Earth. Creation shows the wisdom

and the power of God (Ps. 19:1~4). It is told that there are 200 billion galaxies that

are composed of 200 billion stars in the universe. Think about this solar system that

is as tiny as a dust particle. The earth keeps the distance of 150 million km from the

sun, rotating on its axis 1,600 km/hr and revolving around the sun 108,000 km/hr.

Moreover, the solar system itself is moving in the universe with an amazing speed of

17.7 km/sec, as the galaxy also moves on its own speed. In actuality, we are living

in the midst of miracles. This is a sure evidence of the fact that the One who created

the laws of heavens is governing over the heavens and the earth. Also, how do

seasonal birds fly such a great distance and distinguish the season? Salmons swim

around the vast body of Pacific Ocean for 3~4 years and return in the time of

spawning to the streamlet where they were born. Who gave them such wisdom?

All these things clearly show the fact that God created and is governing overthem. Therefore, people who say God does not exist while enjoying all thingsthat God has provided are deceivers of their own conscience (Rom. 1:20, 2Pet.3:5) and the most foolish (Psalms 14:1).

Then what does God care for? Does he care for this vast universe, or this Earth

that we live on? In truth, He cares for human whom He created for Him. He cares

for you. Because there is the spirit that was created in the image of God in us

(Genesis 2:7, 1:27, Ecclesiastes 3:21) God looks upon one spirit as more precious

than the whole world. God started the history of humanity to prepare the people of

heaven who will live with Him forever. He will end this history once they are all

ready. People can only accomplish the purpose of their lives when they are saved

(Acts 17:27, 1Timothy 2:4). God has given people the freedom of choice either to

choose God or Satan. Therefore, the way of life and the way of death are laid before

everyone (Jeremiah 21:8). The will of God is to give eternal life to those who

believe in the One whom He has sent, Jesus Christ (John 6:40). When we get saved,

the purpose of God’s creation is finally accomplished. Do all things that are made

by people not get its value by the standard set by people? Are they not worthy when

they are used according to its purpose? Just as that, human beings, as a creation of

God, are only valuable and worthy when they get to know God and take part in their

purpose. God considers one soul as more important than the whole world.

However, He says the people who do not know this truth are like beasts that perish

(Psalms 49:12, 20). Therefore, we are truly precious before God.True Light34

When Israelites were freed from the Egyptians and were on their way to Canaan,

God commanded them to search the land to see the strength of the natives and the

abundance of the land. Moses followed God’s command and picked one person

from each tribe, making it twelve men in total. He sent them as spies and found out

that the land was very fruitful. However, the men also reported that the natives were

strong and the cities were very big and strong. Caleb and Joshua told Moses that

because God promised the Israelites the land of Canaan and because God is with

them, they could surely win. However, the other men reported that the Israelites

could not win because they were like grasshoppers compared to the natives. The

Israelites believed the ten men rather than Caleb and complained. God punished the

Israelites by making them live in the wilderness for ___________ years and letting

them die before they could see the land of Canaan. (Numbers 14:33) However, he

gave Caleb, man of obedience, the land of Hebron as a reward and blessed his

descendants.

By allowing Peter to undergo suffering and failures, Jesus was able to

have Peter rely more on Him- and gave Peter the strength to lead a life of fulfilling the Lord’s

will.

"Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean." But Peter said, "Man, Ido not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, therooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter rememberedthe word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you willdeny Me ___________ times." Joseph underwent much trial and suffering living as a servant in Egypt. While

working as the head servant of Potiphar’s household, Potiphar’s wife requested

everyday that Joseph lie with her.

We

can successfully lead a life of faith only when we

become aware of his everlasting presence in our lives

and believe He walks with us no matter what we are

doing.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “ and was not found

because God had taken him”, for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he

pleased God. (Hebrews 11:5)

(1 Peter 3:21)

...

The next day, Aylward was pleased to sleep with her

clothes on, as per what Mrs. Lawson said.

The reason was because of the fact that

many people had come to see the foreigner

who had arrived, which was made known

due to a rumor that had spread.

“Gladys, I want tochange this house

into an inn.”

“What do you havein mind? Will anyonecome all the way uphere?”

“Mule hunters willcome.”

“While the peoplerest after their

“But how can we get thepeople to

“When you see aparade of mulespassing by, you can just grab the halter of the first mule

and drag it over tothe courtyard. Then

the other muleswill follow.”

“I have to do that?Grab the first muleand drag it over tothe courtyard?!”

God wantsyou to work here in

my place.God will bless

you and protect you, sister.”

“Mrs.Lawson…

One day after Mrs. Lawson died, a

Chinese official came to Aylward.

“Miss Aylward! “

“I came to askfor your

help.”

“Excuse me?” “For my help?”

Miss Aylward, I

came here

because of your

feet.

What do you

mean by that?

I received an official

document from the new

government,

That sounds very

good....

But it should

be done by

another

woman.

Miss Aylward, would

you be the one to

check the feet of

women in

Shangshui?

and it says the custom of

foot-binding should be

prohibited in all of China by

law.

Aylward wondered whether this could be

the plan of God.Me?

Very well, officer.

I will do it.

In return, give me

a chance to

preach the gospel

to the isolated

villages as I check

the women's feet.

.....

To be continued...

God prepared the way for Aylward to

preach the gospel.

Under the protection of the Chinese

government, she was able to visit

many different houses in many

different villages.

As time went by, many were saved by the gospel

and the custom of *foot-binding began to

disappear.

Aylward received Chinese citizenship in 1936, in order

to evangelize to more Chinese people. She was called

‘Aiweade’in Chinese.

*foot-binding: a custom of tying women's feet with cloth, in order to make it smaller.
